Sitting Kakko was stupid but, was not the reason the Rangers lost this game.

Tampa’s superstar scored 2 big goals for them and ours didn’t. Kakko wouldn’t have impacted that.

The bigger problem with benching him is whether it impacts his relationship with the organization.

Rangers lost a tough series against a proven winner. They have a core of players that is good enough to win it all. They need to mix and match the pieces around those guys. They will be back.

You may be right. Maybe that's why Gallant says he's not getting into it rather than some coach speak.
Yea that's the thing. He didn't even say like.. "Was trying to change up the lines a bit see if it jolted a spark didn't work." Like it was just so abrupt.

Plus don't forget some beat writers and stuff were hearing rumours of the scratch from early this morning so this wasn't some last minute decision there was something that pointed to this earlier.

Best takeaway from the playoffs for me is Lafreniere. If he plays 82 next season the way he played in the playoffs he'll be a 60 point guy next year.

I don't want to trade Kakko because I don't think he has much value vs what he could be. I'd bridge him cheap and hope he can out perform his deal and take it from there. However, if he is a piece in a deal for a star, it would not shock me if he were the headline piece in a deal for Patrick Kane if he becomes available.
F- to trade Kakko for Kane

I hear ya, but it's still awful to watch. These playoffs as a whole have sucked for entertainment value. I say this as someone loves playoff hockey & who tries to watch almost every game live except in the first round when it's impossible to catch them all. These have been the worst playoffs for quality hockey since the 05 lockout.
The game has devolved especially in the playoffs.

And Edmonton’s few outbursts are going to skew the stats.

I am hoping we can get Motte tied down for a reasonable number. Copp would be a jim bob dandy third line C on a team with deep cup aspersions, but would the cap allow that unless Fil Chytil continues to be cheap and improve.

I thought Braun was really excellent tonight to be fair.

And that had better be the last time I ever have to see Strome in a Ranger shirt. I seriously wish the same could be said for Trouba, however, I am sure he will be back next season for more skating through mud having cocked up at the blueline. With the amount of D prospects we have coming, his is the contract that would really open things up for us.

I’m a culprit of nothing except for being frank about the performance of our players. There are no sacred cows. This is entertainment - none of these men are owed anything. There is a large contingent that refuses to accept that Kakko may just be an average third liner with no spectacular talent and they want to fire our head coach, who had coached the season for exactly one season, in which we went to the ECF after having not seen the playoffs in 5 years. My call for rational assessments of the kids instead of emotional reactions to not seeing our favored players in the lineup really doesn’t seem like the behavior that is abhorrent here.
Seriously. It's a FoRuM. People might disagree with you. That doesn't mean theyre refusing to accept anything accept that you are right and they are wrong. Being rational is not delineated by being in agreement with you! And whenever someone points this out, for instance using statistics that suggest Kakkos makes a much stronger positive impact than you asses, you resort to this "kakkos not youre baby, it's sports, be rational." I really don't want to go back and forth with you on this, but Im not the only one who's said this to you, so maybe consider whether anything of it might be true.

I most certainly will. Thank you.

Also, remember when we won game two and ESPN showed the statistic that 93% of teams who have went up 2-0 in the conference finals advance to the Stanley Cup finals?

Congrats everyone, we are the 7%.

Not elite enough. How about up 2-0 plus up 2-0 in game 3?

If we can’t crack the top 5% it’s time to rebuild the rebuild.

We need to shift more responsibilities to the kids next season. Too bad we're only going to have like, Laf and Chytil left. It's like a f***ing horror movie. The kids are slowing disappearing one at a time.
That's the scary part. Multiple lottery picks not producing, and you look at the system and there's not a lot left to draw from.

Proud of this team, they just ran out of gas.

They will need to learn to play with more urgency every single game. Letting the first two series get to 7 games drained the tank. Every game needs to be a must win mindset.

Alot of good things to unpack, but I liked Laffy's compete level and IMO KAM was one of the best defenseman in a series that had alot of really good defenseman.

Gallant doesn't deserve to lose his job, but he went out of his way to put his fingerprint all over this loss. Doing what he didnto Kakko tonight is very close to unforgiveable. He is the future of this club and Strome, Hunt or Rooney very much are not. Just really pissed off at this decision from him and if he pulls this crap next year, the leash needs to get short or cut loose all together.

I don't disagree with you and was really surprised Kakko was scratched - but for all the will in the world I don't think he is the future of this team. Excluding goaltending, I think Laf, Key and Fox are the corner stones - with others perhaps yet to arrive.

We cut off the rebuild too early. Not enough forward Talent in the system.

And Trojans.

And horses.

And any Greeks who rode horses, to be safe.

And teams that play Trap hockey. And teams with Crosby & Malkin.

F*** I need a drink. I picked the wrong night of the weekend to be sober.

Who's the horse he rode in on? The mannequin behind Cooper tonight?
That was f***ing frightening. Not sure who is the bigger idiot, her or the doctor who cut into her face 15 times & thought it was a good idea.
