I guess it could be soap opera stuff with KK but I think it's more likely he's really pissed at himself/the trainers that they put Strome out there and he was too hurt to play.

I think so too. He's also looking to protect Strome who is probably not in a good place right now. On a Human level, I sympathize with Strome. He was bad on that first goal against and missed a literal tap in last game. He knows his time as a Ranger is done and he went out as someone who quite possibly cost his team a shot at the SCF.

At the end of the day Strome is one who goes to the coach after his warmup and says whether or not he can play hard and play a full game. Not only did he play soft as shit and coast, but he couldn't even make it a full game. Give him a greyhound bus back to new york

No need to. He's an UFA. Glad he played his last game here.

Yeah, how are people seeing this clip and automatically assuming Kakko showed up to warmups drunk or everyone on the team hates him? Looks to me like a coach who knows his lineup decisions went horribly wrong and didn't want to answer any questions about them.

Wasn't it because he came back from surgery? And he was playing with Radulov, who really played like shit this season.

Anyone would saddle their goods with a 52 goal 30 year old Kreider than a declining headcase 30 year old in Seguin. His surgery plus over 30 means he's going to burn out and become Loui Eriksson within 2-3 years.

There is a possibility that Kakko was scratched due to a protocol type rule. Late for meeting/bus/morning skate. Missed curfew. Despite what people may think, teams have these rules and they are enforced.

If KK will no longer be a Ranger next season...shit, then I want this franchise to package him along with other players for a bonafide center.

What do you think Kaapo, Kreider, and a 3rd could fetch us?

Shit, now I'm eyeing Seguin.
Seguin?!? Methinks you haven't watched him play the past 3 years. He's living off his reputation from 8 years ago. Plus his contract is awful. I wouldn't trade McKegg for Seguin at this point.

I wouldn't deal Kreider...yet.

More likely you see smaller moves like dealing Nemeth to clear some cap. Panarin, Kreider, and Trouba are all on the block next summer, not this one, IMO.

Did you see Seguin this year? No way Jose. I'd target a player like ROR, Dubois, or JTM redux. For lower key options, I really like Redek Faska, Shane Pinto, Connor McMichael, and Phil Tomasino, of whom may be available.

The only thing about KK. Whenever they broke up the Kid Line in this postseason, it was always KK either staying or demoting to the 4th line, no? Was the Kid Line ever broken up and Kakko moved to the 1st line with Zibs in any of these rounds? I remember a couple times Kakko going down to the 4th line with Reaves and all them when Gallant shuffled the lines up.

Do you guys hear yourselves.

We just fell 2 games short of going to the Stanley cup and Kakko is our best forward at everything… except scoring points. So therefore also not shooting, passing, etc.

God. The kid is promising. He’s also NOT special. That much is clear. Nothing can ever be level headed around here. He is a solid but unspectacular young player who people have attached extraordinary hopes to, rightfully due to his draft position, but which has fallen short of for three straight years.

Meanwhile people are genuinely acting as if his being scratched in one elimination game is the same offense that leaving Roy in for all 9 goals was and this kid could virtually sue us for defamation at this point if some of you were concerned.

Kakko isn’t family. He isn’t your best friend. He’s a kid who has shown some promise and, it stands to reason, has more potential than what he’s given us so far but is, genuinely, extraordinary only in how how average he is. The visceral reaction here is not rational.
I'm just one person, in case you thought I went by plural pronouns or something.

And I don't really care to discuss Kakko anymore. I do bc this board has devolved into dragging these kids everytime something doesn't break the teams way, and you are an enormous culprit of this. It makes these board unreadable at times.

Kakkos not my child, he's also, by ice time allotment, the 10th-12th most important forward and 15-16th most important player on the roster, yet how many words do you feel you need to waste bringing him up every single day.

Seriously, if I got on this board everyday and said NYC pizza is just overhyped, bad, etc. why tf wouldnt I expect to hear way more defense of NYC pizza then I feel is deserved. Chill out and step back, you're as much a common denominator in these convos as anyone on these boards.

I think it’s honestly very possible that there’s more to the Kakko business than people assume. I have long speculated, since he had gotten the least minutes of all the kids, even when they played well, that there is something the coaching staff is pointing out to him, showing him on tape and asking him to do/not do which he is either refusing or unwilling to do, that has lost him the favor and confidence of the coaches. We will see. The notion that Kakko playing leads to a different outcome in this game… it’s the same as the notion that him not playing in the previous 3 would have made a difference one way or the other. He was okay. He was ultimately a non factor (as were 95% of our forwards) most (not all) of the time. His draft position is really the only reason people defend him. If he was a third round pick people would be saying well we found our Fast replacement. Since he was #2OA it’s I hope he goes to the Finnish media and refuses to sign with this clown organization. The performance wouldn’t have changed; just the value and expectation associated with the draft pedigree.

You may be right. Maybe that's why Gallant says he's not getting into it rather than some coach speak.

If it wins me a Stanley Cup I couldn’t care less.
I hear ya, but it's still awful to watch. These playoffs as a whole have sucked for entertainment value. I say this as someone loves playoff hockey & who tries to watch almost every game live except in the first round when it's impossible to catch them all. These have been the worst playoffs for quality hockey since the 05 lockout.

We need to shift more responsibilities to the kids next season. Too bad we're only going to have like, Laf and Chytil left. It's like a f***ing horror movie. The kids are slowing disappearing one at a time.

I’m a culprit of nothing except for being frank about the performance of our players. There are no sacred cows. This is entertainment - none of these men are owed anything. There is a large contingent that refuses to accept that Kakko may just be an average third liner with no spectacular talent and they want to fire our head coach, who has coached the team for exactly one season, in which we went to the ECF after having not seen the playoffs in 5 years. My call for rational assessments of the kids instead of emotional reactions to not seeing our favored players in the lineup really doesn’t seem like the behavior that is abhorrent here.

I just saw Seguin's cap hit. Nevermind. For some reason I thought he was getting 7 a year.

What about Nick Scmaltz from the Coyotes?
