Biggest point of the season really, considering how we needed to come back against a champion team twice in the 3d period, and after going down with less than 5 minutes left.

We can play with them. It was a huge test for us and I think we passed it tonight. Let’s get them in Tampa. There was a lot of pressure on us tonight and I think we learned what we need to do.

This was a lot like the December games against Boston. Only we’ve grown and managed to tie this one up. I think we look in the mirror and gain confidence from tonight. This is a whole different level of opponent than we’ve been seeing.

This game could’ve been won in regulation if not for moronic coaching for the first two periods. And if siegs wasn’t such a f***ing idiot

Schmid was overall great tonight. Didn't have a chance on really any of the goals scored on him and had a huge save that should've been a huge momentum shifter for the team. Really hope they don't stat watch this game on him because the team gave him basically no chance on his goals. Imo, he deserves to be the starter, or at least 1a/1b with Vitek
I didn't like the Stamkos goal because he was right there

It wasn't a terrible onr though

Meier on Vasilevskiy to tie it wasn't good either.

I don't know, I just feel like they wanna send him back and take Blackwood off of IR and play him, but we're well past the point where the Blackwood show should have been cancelled.

Really fun game despite a crappy shootout ending it. The rock would've exploded if Timo got the game winning OT hattie. But glad to be there for his first at the rock!

The shootout is akin to determining a winner in an extra innings baseball game with a homerun derby. It’s a stupid gimmick and has nothing to do with the actual game. The novelty wore off a long time ago.

I read an article about how another league extended OT to 7 minutes and saw a dramatic decrease in shootouts. Only 18% of games went to the shootout.

Imagine you sit down and watch a sick NFL game only to end with the longest punt competition, NBA with a 3 point contest or MLB ending like you said with a HR derby. It's such a horseshit format, I get that you shouldn't be like the 13-14 Devils where they went like 0-14? But it also shouldn't be determining ties. You can legit do a golden goal 3v3 if you really wanted to make the format better.

Although I didn’t like the Stamkos goal, Schmid does seem like he at least has some ability to come up with a big save when you need it. Ala the 2v1 in overtime. And also remember he did steal one from Paul earlier so I suppose trade that for the Stamkos one.

Haven’t looked at the sheet, but the 4th line looked the best has been in awhile.

I think whatever is ailing Jack is impacting his shot.
I think he is not 100% yet. He isn’t driving the net or the middle of the ice lately. He just seems off. Still lots of time for him to get back to beast mode.

Can't take people seriously when they complain about the shootout selections. A majority of our guys stink and who cares anyway?

I think that was our best lineup you could choose, Meier and Yegor have the best shots on the team and Boqvist is like Josefson where he's somehow nasty at it without anyone knowing lol

We tend to win the shot battle and tilt the ice at times but there’s a lot of “Severson syndrome” going on throughout the whole team. Play good-to-great long stretches of the game and make a handful of mistakes that are so catastrophically poor they end up in the back of the net. Numbers look great but they’ve got to cut out the brain farts.

Love seeing Meier step up. Hopefully that gets him going.

Bottom line tonight was Vasilevsky, but big picture…we need the other Jack Hughes, not this one. Game on his stick on that two on one, early season that’s back of the net.

Lazar with a .01 xGA and a 96.4 xGF%. Exactly what we want from him. Go out there, hit guys and make sure nothing happens. I’ll take that any day of the week from a 4th liner.

Also tonight proves Sal legit needs to be coaching somewhere, guy literally called the Timo shit and then it works to a tee. Gonna suck when we lose the guy to a national broadcast or to a different team who knows who the right hockey hires are.

ESPN won’t hire him because he isn’t a “bug name.” He worked for TNT last year in round 1 with their A crew, and did quite well. I could see him getting more TNT assignments in the future. But that wouldn’t take him away as all their broadcasters also work locally.

He should be in Dano’s role though.

PP1 needs some serious practice or some changes. Too many left shots IMO. I would like to see us bring in Mercer and replace Bratt. Bratt is the better player but have a righty could help. Plus Bratt being moved off, opens up Meier on the right side as more of a shooting threat.

Severson has been one of the, if not the best player on the ice for several weeks.
