Tampa had a 0-5 loss to Tor in game 1 of RD 1. We obviously have better D and better G than Tor but we'll need to be ready for the counter punch by Tampa.
Like I said... I'd be plastering TB's stats after a loss all over the training center and locker rooms.

Do not take this lightly. This team is notorious for it when we have some breathing room. The urgency needs to be game in, game out at this point.

Someone else mentioned it, and I agree - the x factor in this series are the kids vs. can Cooper find a way to stop them.

If he can't they will feast and the Rangers will reach the Final. Tampa losing their depth from last year might be their undoing.

That said this is far from over. Beating them tomorrow night would be amazing - I don't see the Rangers losing four out of five with how they're playing. Since game six they've been legit on fire.

When you start focusing on the kids.... Zibs and we pray Panarin, creep up on you.

The depth on that team is very good. However, if you shut down Stamkos and Kucherov, the odds of beating them go up significantly. How Tampa responds in game 2 will be telling for the rest of the series.

The stick checking drive by's aint gonna cut it.

The lackadaisical puck management aint gonna cut it.

I don't know who gave the speech at 1st intermission... or what was said... but it worked. We weren't perfect but we were better.

Strome's defensive play is going to be a problem in this series and possibly the next one if we can get through this one. His inability to finish grade A chances is whatever, but he was single handedly responsible for like 3 of Kucherov's grade A scoring chances.

Panarin's too. Weird game for Panarin where he was abysmal for most of it but also single handedly completed more seam passes in this game along than the Florida Panthers did as a team in 4 games LOL. Great catch and release on his goal as well.

Thats one reason why I'd caution getting too high from this game. Every single goal we scored yesterday was on a pass that either had Vasi moving laterally save for the first Chytil one, and that was maybe the toughest chance he had to face all night (Cernak fell asleep on that one.) Someone on twitter tracked that we had SEVEN chances off of seam passes yesterday - Thats as many as Toronto had in their entire series. Leafs are many things, but they aren't a bunch of scrubs.

Those are NOT going to be there that often going forward. If there was ANY rust in their game, it was there.

Vally analyzed Vasi and Tampa really well. When those passes aren't there, we're going to have to shoot for rebounds and pounce on a few of those. We're not as good at that.

all we need to do is tire them out for a full minute of zone time.... voila... Seam passes open

we were playing with extreme pace from the 2nd period on.... but I do expect the TB's defensive coverage and middle clogging to be much tighter.

They didn't seem that rusty in the 1st period. We failed a bunch of forced cross seam passes... but when we picked up the pace, it changed. When your opponent starts chasing/over compensating, things open up.

I also have a theory that Chytil's first goal last night was a consequence of the popularity of the michigan move.

Kakko is dangling around behind the net, which draws the direct attention of not one, but two Tampa players.

They're looking at Kakko, he slithers it to Chytil who has been left entirely alone.

As if a beta like Kakko would ever have the hubris to try the Michigan. ;)

During the Penguins series the kids were out their with Braun and Schneider, it was killing their flow. I don't have numbers, frankly I have no idea where to research it, but it seems to me the last couple of series, they've had Fox/Lindgren or Miller/Trouba with them, huge freaking difference, seems like they've got Fox out there with them most of the time actually but that's me going on feeling and not with hard numbers.

Yeah we forced that one open during "the shift" Lol.

That one and the one on Kreider's goal are encouraging because those really come from our guys just outworking their guys. I saw Bogosian get some shit on here over the first goal but that was mis directed - Zibanejad took a steaming dump on Kucherov there and thats why this goal happened.

Another bad habit that reemerged, not that it ever really went away, was the amount of overpassing, turning down shot opportunities from the points & from the slot. The refusal of this team's desire to shoot for rebounds or play for dirty goals is infuriating to say the least.

Yeah honestly if we're not going to try to score off of rebounds, moving screens are the next best option.

Feed Tampa their own medicine, they're GREAT at this (their first goal was this.)

We've scored a few in these playoffs too. I think Vatrano's goal was one but I can't remember.

listen we arent going to sweep the lightning, it just won happen

however being the youngest team in the playoffs and really the youngest "core" is amazing to watch

the panthers who were a great team this year only scored 3 goals over a 4 game series against the bolts, im just happy that we are here because if anything it means out future is bright as hell
