I also have a theory that Chytil's first goal last night was a consequence of the popularity of the michigan move.

Kakko is dangling around behind the net, which draws the direct attention of not one, but two Tampa players.

They're looking at Kakko, he slithers it to Chytil who has been left entirely alone.

Wow. Playoff hockey can be fun?! What is this?

Tampa looked like they were in shock. But the pendulum gonna be swinging back hard in G2.
yes but the ranges shouldn't have to worry about that, this is OUR HOUSE! Same recipe, different game. Take it to them and take advantage of their still....possible rustiness.
Vasilevski has more doubt than he ever has.
however many opposing teams fans are saying that the Rangers have been lucky getting to the ECF because of goaltender injuries, Crosby etc. Defeating Tampa totally disregards all of that. I had to laugh when I seen this yesterday, have you?
Islanders fans in a tough spot with Eastern Conference Finals

When it comes to very good NHL goalies like Vasi and Shesh, when they can get set and have limited traffic infront of them they will stop just about every shot.

It's when you make them move and they are not set is when it gets a lot more difficult to make the save. Doesn't matter how good the goalie is. I believe 5 of the 6 goals the Rangers scored Vasi had to move laterally to attempt the save. Several across the crease moves as the Rangers were able to thread passes from one side of the ice to the other.

I dont care how good the goalie is, they are going to let some of those in like we saw last night.

To have our 4th line control possession long enough to change out for the kid line? Cooper should be showing TB that on repeat. That's embarrassing.

And the Fox keep in? Incredible. Wouldn't have been needed if the guy on TB wasn't literally holding Kakko's stick for 10 straight seconds resulting in him not being able to get to the puck first. But that's fine. Made the play that much greater.

That keep-in was incredible, yet normal for him. Fox is a wizard at keeping the puck in the zone whether it's on the ice or in the air.

What about the move to get around the defender after he lands on the ice? Again, just a normal part of his repertoire. We are spoiled.

Still don't care what none y'all say, I really like Frankie and I hope we keep him for a good while in the right role. I like him on this team.

Igor...my lord...

Lots of rust on Tampa's side, next game should be different, but I also think we came out so accustomed to suffocating defense from Carolina - all of a sudden you got a little more time and space.

Let's go boys.

Was thinking the same exact thing. People forget why Carolina was the cup favorite. Persevering in that series was a borderline miracle.

It's like we've been training with weights on..... and now we’ve taken the weights off. We leveled up.

Maybe the 1st was a tentative feeling out process, and with Tampa's experience they found the edge but in the 2nd we pushed the pace. The only ones who didn't get the message in the 2nd were Panarin and Strome... but I guess it was relayed to them for the 3rd.

Reaves unleashes the team every time but I wish linesmen would unleash Reaves. They're saving people from beatdowns. Reaves just laughs at it all.

My son was watching with me last night and that late scrum where Reaves was just being kept away, I said "he's just gonna end up taking everyb....." and before I could finish Reaves was on a pile of several people lol

I missed the discussion during the game, but I really hated Shesty’s theatrics.

That’s just asking for trouble. We’re up massively, while pull that stunt? Especially after such a good game.

I really don't think he's diving when he does that. I feel like that's the guy's legit response. Maybe being really dialed in and being taken out like results in that type of response.

Garry Thorne and Bill Clement were the best ESPN duo.
I think people are way too nostalgic when it comes to Clement. Thorne carried him. Clement was a giant buffoon who mispronounced names all the time, & his analysis ability was barely above a talking monkey. Plus he was a giant f***ing flyers homer.

A few of you talking like this series is over and Tampa Bay has nothing. This series is far from over. No jinxing or bad karma please. One game at a time . Go Rangers !
Exactly. This is a new challenge because you've got a team with such experience and good netminding.

While game 1 might have not been Vasy's best, he's clearly several tiers above the other guys we've faced.

Zibanejad tried the same swagger-five hole move that he scored on Raanta again last night and it got shrugged off. We won't be getting nearly as many freebies.
