So, I’m coming close to going ahead and doing the unthinkable. If Lias doesn’t change his tune soon, I’m going to take the extra ‘s’ from his last name and apply it to the end of his first name.

Extreme, you might say. But he has brought this all upon himself. He will reap the whirlwind.

Lias is so similar to Jaime Lundmark. Both were top 10 picks, blonde, "surefire" future captain, similar size, both struggled in NHL and AHL.

I have to say though that Rangers are pretty terrible at developing players. Just look at AHL team, most teams in AHL have 2 assistant coaches, but Wolfpack has only one.

Suspend him and let him rot.

I mean, really, let him go to Europe. And then qualify him once his ELC is up.

I have no idea what is going on, but in a way, if you are gonna do something do it properly...

Players are requesting trades left and right and nothing ever happens. At least this trade quest is getting some attention.

I agree, but I do think we have more than one. Not listed on box scores though. But I’ve thought the same thing and I know I’ve seen a longer list of personnel listed elsewhere.

The problem is that guys like Glen Sather are experts on thinking that the old way is the right way. Things stand still. Our farm have just been really neglected, and this organization — in many areas — have a tendency to be super content with how things are.

If some things are handled right it is driven from below so to speak. It’s not like the gym guys are going to dig up some blue print from the 80s on how to train.

Gorton seem to do a good job, but he does seem really insecure. He was obviously scared shit less during the president search. You could see it. He only hires super inexperienced low key guys to work with him. Gorton only have 24 hours per day like the rest of us. How about bringing in someone capable to help him? Drury has been a disaster as a GM for HFD.

Then we goes out and hires someone who seems like the biggest yes man ever as prez. JD could be great, but he could also be darn lame and out of touch.

Chucking his silver medal into the stands has new meaning for me now.

To me that’s where he looks bad. If he is suppose to be a “character guy” then why wouldn’t you just ask for a trade and grind it out until something comes.

These guys think they have leverage on the organization but they don't. The same thing happened with Ho-Sang. They're not William Nylander - a 1st or 2nd liner on a team with Stanley Cup hopes who by not being apart of the team significantly hurts the teams chances.

If anything good is coming out of this, it’s that we once and for all STOP to rush kids. And it’s not just Lias and Chytil, for a long time we have been eager to yank this kids early. Skjei, McD and Kreider were all pushed to sign before they did. Korpikoski.

oh gosh, that’s a haunting good comparison. Kakko had better not be Brendl.

Anaheim might be the worst skating team I've seen this season. Maybe they would be interested in Lias?

Lundmark put up 27 goals and 59 points in his rookie AHL season

2 top 10 picks have looked to exit the Org in a very short period of time.

Is it really fair to just automatically label them entitled little whiners?

What is it that's going on behind the scenes, the elephant in the room?

Too be a fly on the wall..
Kravstov utilized a clause he negotiated for a reason and went back to his home country, as allowed, while still a teenager.

That’s not really the same at all as Lias publicly demanding a trade and leaving Hartford without permission. And it’s definitely not exiting the organization.

It might be fair to label them whiners honestly. Shestyorkin is killing it in Hartford. Chytil went down, played amazing and came back better for it. Hartford is hugely improved as a team by all measurements.

And I’ll say it again, if this is the reaction of two top picks, there is a fundamental flaw in what the Rangers are looking for in players and they need to address it.

Because either they aren’t identifying it early enough, or their approach is not connecting with their target audience.

This one is easy.

The kids drafted by the NYR Quinn is supposed to develop are far ahead of him tactically.... no wonder the kids get frustrated.

Yes, you have to be strong along the boards in the NHL and yes you have to crash the net and show up at the far post, but there is a hell of a lot more to hockey than that.

Quinn's 3 zone and puck possession hockey is primitive.

Lias was described as a very coachable player by his Swedish coaches. How is a kid like that, that looks to be methodical and responsible and actually thinks the game, going to find traction on a Quinn team?

It's a total train wreck of a culture crash.

I ultimately don't buy that Quinn should have given him more time. What did he do when he was on the ice to show he should have gotten a larger role. Buchnevich was demoted to the 4th line many times and always showed that he was better than that. At some point you have to play in such a way that it forces a change. Even when they had him play at wing on higher lines this year he was invisible. He was invisible regardless of who he was playing with. He played well in preseason and then didn't any longer once the games mattered. Blaming it on a 4th line player combo is invalid when the other linemates player better. If he was better than that, he shouldn't have been the worst player on the line.

I really wanted success for this kid, but I can't wish him to play better.

Jeff Marek mentioned the phrase "23 players and 23 Ubers" on the 31 Thoughts Podcast a few weeks ago to describe a lot of situations around the NHL with players not really interacting like they used to. Game ends and each player goes his separate way. This situation is just sad to me because it really doesn't make sense and I can't blame the organization here. Do these kids talk to each other anymore? It can't all just be DQ, Gorts and Knoblauch helping young players get through their struggles. The players have to help each other also. For Andersson, does he reach out to a Jesper Fast or even Chytil before making a decision like this? Doesn't he see that Chytil went through the same exact treatment and came back better for it?

We'll never know but I just wonder to what extent these kids are voicing their problems solely to their agents and not their peer group.

Throwing in the towel. And scouts touted him a leader and captain material. Boy did they ever get the intel wrong on this bloke!
