I was thinking about that too, but either Lias’ camp have hubris or there is something else here. Half the league were interested in going after Drouin and willing to give up a lot. He was in a situation to potentially force a deal.

Everyone with half a brain must realize that it’s possible that Gorton can’t find a suitor over night.
Unfortunately, I seriously doubt there's a brigade of GMs tying up Gort's phone lines offering deals he couldn't possibly refuse.

Months ago I asked what lias does well.

A few people attacked me bc they imagined some kind of bs agenda (even though only I and one other person actually managed to say anything good about his game) so I got into a back and forth with them and my actual question fell by the wayside.

Coming out of that I had more names for the ignore list and I convinced myself that the lack of actual hockey discussion was the result of most people here not knowing anything about hockey. Still I couldn't shake the nagging feeling that I'd just stumbled onto the really unsettling possibility that Lias just absolutely sucks so bad that it resulted in just one single soul being able to tell me about a good thing he does...

OK -- I must have been on a business trip to Alpha Centauri when the real reports on him came out because I don't recall reading anywhere that he was a Top 6 talent....nor to I recall him being called a scoring dynamo (i supposed those two traits were automatically tagged when he was selected). I admit, I could be wrong and will gladly admit it if someone can point me in the right direction.

Overall, Lias always reminded me of Buchnevich Light.

ABSOLUTELY nothing in common

This makes me worried. I hope this doesn’t give kravtsov any ideas...
More likes this happened after kravtsov got back and lias watched the staff be really hands on with kravtsov to make him feel welcome again and andersson’s saying, I’ve just been passed up.

I want to go home and play in frolunda and wait for the eventual trade I know deep down is coming.

Let’s say holland wants him, and he feels the rangers through back channels have kinda Navigated pool party’s decision process. Holland speaks to the agent about something else and slips to him at the end. ‘You know your kid in the northeast could always do what my guy (pool party) did’

Playing the rangers game. Optics wise it does kill his value.

Kovalev27 was on it from the drop saying his skating was never gonna catch up. It hasn’t. It’s killed his confidence to play his game bc he knows he’s behind the 8 ball out there bc he can’t keep up.

Scouts should stop drafting based on wjc tournaments. Pettersson looked like crap at wjc while andersson looked quite good.

Pettersson is now a star in NHL and andersson is a bum.

I would love Torts 3.0 (technically it would be 3.0), would absolutely love that. But I don't see CBJ firing him. DeBoer is a good option, as would Laviolette be after he gets canned.

There are a couple of people above Gorts that absolutely love Torts. It would be great to see another run with him to close out some unfinished businesses.
I’ll do backflips if they bring Torts back

I know everyone hates him right?
But I never sat and watched games feeling like the team was going through the motions or soft. Or maddeningly inconsistent. His issue was he became too much of a characterteur of himself and became inhuman with his players and co-workers. He got into his shtick too far to push the right buttons, when the problem was he was being too stubborn to open up the game.

I think he treats his players and co-workers much more like people now, even if he is still a hardzzz, and I think the game has forced Torts to change his philosophies in terms of transition and D in the offense, to stick.

So I’d love Torts. Hell, I’d love Quinn to be the associate head coach with him. Assistant.

But with Torts we can sure of the things that are out of our control and in which we’fe left to hope the front office/ coaches/ etc can bring it all together.

There’s no doubt Torts can. He just needs to treat people good. The better he treats people, the more willing they will be to follow his marching orders

If Andersson and Pettersson where on the board together I can bet you 100% they would have taken Pettersson. If I remember correctly they tried to move up again to get him.

Speaking on generalities, yes a player shouldn't be drafted solely on their WJC performance.

Much like other failed high picks, he will remain a topic of conversation for at least the next decade.

yeahi figured i should've added the :sarcasm:

Lias reaction is a bit telling from the entitlement side of a whiner generation

Rangers got handcuffed with the pick while on the clock. All their guys went. Pettersson/glass think there was a 3rd guy.

In hindsight it was a bad pick.

But hasn’t it been discussed nobody drafted after him in the 1st round has done much. And don’t give me middedtslt, who kovalev if we’re gonna be fair, you were saying was a superstar as early as you were saying andersson was a bust.

And that kid just got sent down and the photo of him in the tweet showed a chubby kid on the Sabres bench.

So maybe it’s not as extreme a miss as it appears in a vacuum for a top 10 pick

Well, he must have learned something over the past years....I've been amazed that he's still with Columbus....I honestly didn't think he'd last more than a year or two there....he's headed toward his 5th anniversary.

I’ll join you in the festivities. Tremendous coach.

I’m surprised I haven’t seen the *I knew we should of drafted Casey Mittelstadt* people yet.

No ones knocking the door down to get Andersson. Let him sit until he stops pouting.
I really don't think of it as pouting. He's a young prospect who has probably realized that his career, with its current trajectory, is going nowhere, and he needs a change. I don't agree with outright leaving the team, but in general I don't really see it as some petulant tantrum, but a guy (and his agent) trying to make something happen for him before it's too late.

Waste of a 7th overall pick. I'm sure he will become a stud elsewhere, like JT Miller, Pionk or Anthony Duclair.

Someone needs to get their shit together with this organization.

Right now we have a 7th overall who asked for a trade, and a 9th overall not given much of a chance playing in Russia. Kakko hasnt been handled well either. I thought this coach was about developing the youth. And I thought that was the direction this club was going.

Any word on if Kravtsov would return?

LOL man you gotta read up. Kravtsov has been back for a few Hartford games and has played well. He scored a goal last night and the coach has spoken well of his game and effort.

Brett Howden's still in the NHL.

We can debate Lias' play at a lot of points and he certainly needed to be better. But not once was he given a legitimate chance. Brendan Smith made it off line 4 this season and he couldn't. Brendan Smith!

That is true. Howden has a job in the NHL and is constantly in the line up. Not sure why he is in the NHL.
