LOL man you gotta read up. Kravtsov has been back for a few Hartford games and has played well. He scored a goal last night and the coach has spoken well of his game and effort.

That is good news. I didnt see that.

Still, you dont get top 10 picks often, and this was an absolute waste of a 7th overall pick, and they will get next to no value for him.

There's a difference in a talented player who is having trouble adjusting like Kakko and someone who obviously never belonged like Andersson. I don't follow prospects anymore like some of you do but as soon as I saw him play for us I knew he wasn't going to pan out, and I was certainly not alone. I really don't know what anyone here saw in him. Chytil, yes. He has flashes. Still not 100% on him but Lias showed nothing from day one.

Silver medals,
Silver medals,
It's Christmas time in the city...
Ring aling
Hear them sing,
Lias has gone on his way.

I'm a little late to the party, but how is it he is "no longer with the team"? Isn't he under contract? Since when can a player just walk away from a contract?

Scouts should stop drafting based on wjc tournaments. Pettersson looked like crap at wjc while andersson looked quite good.

Pettersson is now a star in NHL and andersson is a bum.

Nah, look at all the NHL talent between Canada and USA from the 2017 gold medal game

The value of a third round pick is just so low that unless they can get the equivalent value of a 2nd rounder for Lias it might just be a smarter option to let him return to Europe and play like the Oilers did with Pulju.

Someone posted a list to a chart showing that year's draft and what each player had done to day. Sadly, Lias pretty much turned out to be the best of the bunch. None of the others picked after him were worth a damn either.

Not before his trade request he wasn't. His PPG playoff run and first big 50 point season came after.
The situation is similar to Drouin in some aspects but player and stat wise, they’re not alike. Drouin at least had shown he could hack it in the NHL scoring 32 points in 70 games

Lias hasn’t done anything close to that

A washed up and left for dead Anthony DuClair is an old 24 years.

Lias Anderson is 21.

Lot of good points in the thread while patience is out the window when you’re a hyped 18 year old drafted only to see both the kid and fans lose their minds by the time the kid is 21. Meanwhile, the less hyped kids keep their heads and the fans remain patient.

I get it, both we and the player expect the immediate production to equal the hype. When it doesn’t happen, this is the answer? Fans write him off and the kid quits?

Meanwhile, Anybody wish DuClair was wearing a Rangers sweater? Should the Rangers extend 24 yr old Anthony DeAngelo who was written off by others too?

quite a mystery

Could anyone please give me an example of another prospect in his D+3 year who asked for a trade and left a team essentially because he didn’t like bouncing between the NHL and the AHL?

It honestly pisses me off. I am generally in the camp of supporting players who exercise the options they have available. But this is a new level. IMO if I’m the Rangers unless I can get something decent I might just tell him to enjoy Sweden indefinitely rather than entertain this ridiculous request. Sets a very bad precedent.

This is the Rangers version of Puljujarvi unfortunately

As much as I, like many others have, make fun of the Oilers for that situation, this is equally embarrassing for the Rangers

And yes, the Rangers should do some soil-searching based on two top 10 picks essentially wanting to walk away from the organization, even temporarily, in as many months.
I do love some soil searching

But jokes aside, any insight into what Gorton might do? And any potential players that could be in play via a Lias trade?

I expect a revisit of the JP talks.

I think @Inferno has the right mindset. Look at prospects on other teams who might need changes or scenery. That’s probably your focus area.

I was going to say they shouldn't let him out but I think you are right. Let him and his agent find a place to play, and send him there to get his confidence back and find his game. He has probably zero value right now. Maybe he builds it back to something and even if he never puts on our sweater again, he's at least worth something.

You think the team is surprised he’s requested a trade?

You’ve been saying for a bit now that he was probably going to be moved within the next 12 months but this is sudden
