Terrible pick

Just as Puljujärvi. Not by talent ment - but on the personal level, mentally, psychic and aclimitaze-able not grown. BUt I hold Puljujärvi as a better hockeyplayer in skill. Therefore they could go of in a trade with a pick switch from higher to lower for NYRangers.

“NHL ready”

“High-character”

“Safest pick”

“Good motor”

“Hard-worker”

So far, he’s been none of those things. I’ve always hated the pick but believed that his character was good enough so that he would work hard and eventually develop into a high-end 3C. And maybe he will. I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes, but this leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I thought he would do what Chytil did. Take the demotion like a pro and work hard to make it back up to the NHL.

Not only do I not think he’s talented, and not only was he flat-out bad for us, but now this? I’m much lower on LA than most on here, but even I couldn’t see this coming. Good riddance. Hartford must be pretty bad though with Kravtsov and LA wanting out. I would say generation of entitlement, but Chytil, Shestyorkin, and many others are busting their asses.

You guys are ridiculous for thinking we could trade Lias straight up for Puljujarvi. They're in similar situations, two young prospects that have disappointed and not scratched the surface of their potential yet. The difference? Puljujarvi actually had potential at one point.

Stepan?

He has 12 points on the year. Fast and Lemieux are averaging more points per game than DStep right now.

Hell, he was horrible last year too. 35 points in 72 games.

I was a big Stepan fan, but moving him was absolutely the right move. His production has fallen off the cliff these last couple of seasons.
And it’s almost always better to move a player a year too early than a year too late

I'm starting to think the Hartford struggles are more attitude related than actual talent.

That's entirely possible. Lias may think he deserves to be in New York getting more ice time and with better players. Jamie Lundmark all over again. OTOH we've had high draft picks struggle for a while in the AHL and still turn out well. This doesn't mean he won't be a good NHL player but none of this makes him look good right now and IMO his value isn't great----straight up maybe we could get a low 2nd for him if we're lucky.

I think Ho-Sang went through waivers. I’d think he’s on a lower value level at the moment. I do find Ho-Sang to be very intriguing though. Rangers should get Ho-Sang and Puljujarvi and any other reclamation project out there. For cheap.
Been there (TOO many times), done that....hopefully moved on forever.

What's the problem, I see what you are writing and you should be very happy about him leaving then?

Of course he will improve his game but not playing for the New York Rangers obviously.

One thing I really hate is when fans writing degrading things about players leaving.

Perhaps he didn't fit in this setup of Rangers and probably strongly felt management and coaches losing faith him in. He is a young guy but only one career in the NHL. A situation where management and coaches not believing in you is awful/terrible, losing faith and hope in you, then you should leave the team and prove them wrong. He is doing the right thing, no question about it. Rangers sometimes suffering from the Maple Leafs syndrome, lacking of patience developing talents.

What exactly does “no longer with NYR” mean?

Andersson asked for a trade and left the team. His agent leaked it to Dreger. Drouin did the same thing in TB 3-4 years ago. Drouin left TB's AHL affiliate in Syracuse. Yzerman said I am not trading you. The player's value was very low. Drouin returned to Syracuse 6 weeks later. Yzerman eventually traded Drouin to Montreal over a year later for Sergachev.

So what your saying is Andersson for Makar is possible? :naughty:

Watch him come crawling back.

I see what you’re saying, but look at Chytil. He started off in Hartford and took the AHL assignment as a challenge and worked his tail off and gave the Rangers no choice but to call him back up. All Lias had to do was prove to the Rangers that he didn’t belong in the AHL same as Chytil did.

He has no leverage in this situation. Hes under team control for how much longer?

Was he possibly mishandled by the organization, sure. Has he shown ANYTHING when faced with adversity? Nope. He couldn't beat out a Dman that converted to forward or a training camp invite. May be it just looks this way in the age of technology and could have been a problem in the past, but this seems to be a problem that is popping up more frequently now.

People are asking why Howden was kept up and given more opportunities. There are a lot of things that go on behind closed doors that I'm sure the Rangers would never put out there.

May be he behaved like and entitled little baby who thought that since he was a #7 pick that he should just be given the opportunity for an indefinite amount of time? May be Howden busted his behind in practices and when he plays VS Andersson doing nothing of the sort.

Nothing is being handed to these young players and that's the way it should be. Look at Chytil. Was up for most of last season and didnt look ready to start this season in the NHL. Busted his butt in the AHL and was brought up.

Two players the same age and both first round picks, similar situations with different results.

I was thinking about that too, but either Lias’ camp have hubris or there is something else here. Half the league were interested in going after Drouin and willing to give up a lot. He was in a situation to potentially force a deal.

Everyone with half a brain must realize that it’s possible that Gorton can’t find a suitor over night.

Maybe Andersson asked for a trade when he was sent down to the AHL 10 days before Thanksgiving. He reported to Hartford. The roster freeze started on Thursday night. A trade didn't happen and Andersson left. One month has come and gone. It ends on midnight the 27th. Andersson says f*** this. I am going home to spend the holidays with my family in Sweden. The Rangers aren't trading me for a while and I want a change of scenery. My agent checked in with Gorton and he said nothing is imminent. Gorton will be busy with the World Juniors over Christmas. That ends on January 5. The trade deadline isn't until Febuary 24. If the Rangers don't trade me by then, I will reevaluate my situation.

Andersson played for Hartford on Wednesday night. Hartford lost 7-1 and Andersson was a -3. Plus/minus isn't always an accurate stat. It was an awful game for the entire team. The roster started at midnight on the 19th. Yesterday was the 21st. Andersson left the team on Thursday or Friday. Probably on Friday because it was leaked to Dreger early yesterday afternoon. The agent got mad and leaked it. Hartford didn't play on Friday night.

I'd love to see if Gorton has the stones to do that. I hope he does. Sets a really bad precedent for the organization if he just caves and sends him on his way given the situation.

oh he certainly proved he didn’t belong in the AHL he was Hartford’s worst player most nights too. Should go back to SEL for a year or two

The guys around Andersson are hyping him up too much and it has stuck in his head. They are Saying stuff like “Lias not given a fair chance, DQ did not know what to do with him, he yells too much, he does not like Lias”. Yeh, all pretty stupid stuff, even if true, if you want the guy to succeed in the real world. Lias reaction is a bit telling from the entitlement side of a whiner generation

The HFD organization has had two top ten picks quit on them in the last what- 2-3 months?

The **** is going on?
It’s the kakko effect.

Lias/chytil and then Kravtsov were the Rangers golden boys. The rangers were bending over backwards to let them know how much they meant to the team and how they wanted to get them playing in NY ASAP.

Suddenly kakko falls into our laps, becomes the golden boy, gets fast-tracked. Can play as lost or Green as these kids think they would be and getting a pass, while suddenly they are just another guy in the locker room and more and more the staff and upper management isn’t being as hands on and book.

Honestly I think that’s why these guys have actually upped and left. And so quickly.

The only difference being was that Drouin was a top line player at one point. So, it’s really not even close to comprable.
