They made the right decision moving stepan when they did.
Given they got Tony, sure. But at the time, Lias was the prize of the deal. I wish we could have made another deal just for Tony and retained Stepan, but I understand the cap implications at the time and have the benefit of hind sight. Regardless, I wish we were in the timeline where we moved Girardi sooner or Staal to clear that space and had captain Step over McDonagh. Step is a cerebral player, it would have been nice to have retained him.

Can we get Mittlestadt for Lias? I feel the need to have someone in the organization from that draft to whine about.

I'm on record a million times as saying I disliked the way he had been handled. Beginning early in the year, I saw the writing on the wall and said we should trade him before he loses any further value. So, him asking for a trade, I'm not surprised and I'm okay with it.

I don't like him leaving the team. It would be nice to know the circumstances, the interactions he has had leading up to it, but at the end of the day, he walked away. That sucks as it only makes things more difficult for us.

All in all, plenty of blame to go around. I just wonder how this would have ended up had things been different last year.

Why assume Andersson asked to leave the team? I think it's much more likely that the team told him to leave. The writing was on the wall, but this ended badly for all involved. Including the fans.

He has been struggling too but given the fact we have to trade Lias I could see that
Has he? He torched the AHL in a short stint and has good underlying metrics with Ottawa. Hell, he’s basically outscored Lias’ entire NHL career in a depth role this season

Really? The only person who posts regularly in the HFD thread about games is K27, and dude's so busy patting himself on the back in this thread, he should worry about clavicle damage. Hardly an unbiased observer. I'd like to actually get some genuine reports on how he's played

I saw him 3 days ago vs. The checkers. He was not noticable.

We could have done better by him. But seriously, asking for a trade when you can’t even make an NHL roster? That’s some sense of entitlement right there. And might explain why he’s not in the NHL. Does he think he is better than he is? We also dealt with this with Kravtsov - it took getting sent to the KHL minors to get his head right.

Earn your f***ing stripes!

I'm sick of this shit

Pretty weak move by Andersson here. Also, while I have not agreed with David Quinn's handling of Andersson this season, to be fair to Gorts and to Quinn you don't expect your #7 OA pick from a few seasons ago who was drafted in large part due to his character, to request a ******* trade because he was sent down for a few weeks.

Not saying it's right or wrong or good or bad but it's f***ing comical to see everyone yelling at Lias when weeks ago, he was a favorite son of many.

You can say the problem was who he was playing with, but he is not noticeable when he is on the ice no matter who he is with. Even when Buch is playing on the 4th, you can see the skill. He does something that moves the needle in some capacity. Lias is mostly invisible. Continuing to be so in the AHL does him no favors.
