I kind of link Lias and Frank Ntilikina in my mind. Guys who were touted as heady players who are types of guys winning teams have.

This year have both shown glimpses of what they can become but have been frustratingly inconsistent and ultimately ineffective.

I am still rooting for them both. I hope Lias has a change of heart and realizes that he needs to be coached and learn to be more intuitive and make quicker plays.

I know it’s unlikely but he could be a key guy for us if he played like he did in the preseason.

Neither did JP. Andersson played really well to start to the year and in preseason. Quinn could’ve at least moved him to the 3rd line and push Howden down who started off awful

I'm not going to pretend that JP is some star player, but I do believe that he is a better offensive player than Lias has shown at both the AHL and NHL levels.

Two months ago I wouldn't have traded Lias straight across for JP, but Lias has done nothing but allow his stock to drop with subpar play at the NHL level and has gone to the AHL and not looked much better.

I dont hate the kid and hoped that he would have worked out. He was the kick starter to the rebuild, it would have been nice to see him help bring this team back, but hes not come close to being any sort of difference maker even on the 4th line.

Hes turning into a dime a dozen plumber.

The AHL and leagues overseas are flush with this kind of player.

I've always hated this guy and now its all warranted.
I remember watching the draft live on NHL channel and everyone was like... what is this pick?

Why is the Clark thread locked?

Hopefully they salvage something out of this pick. I'd like to know why he requested it, if it was something that happened or something he thought should have happened.

not a good comparison. Frank has show more than Lias. Plus Frank is always a great defender

The thing with Lias is it's like he's plateaued two years ago. It's not good that he's struggling so much even in Hartford. Sometimes players lose confidence---sometimes they have expectations for themselves and when things don't go that well for them they start to lose hope and the way things are with the Rangers right now Lias might not even see an opening. At training camp he seemed to be a bit quicker but as the season has progressed he hasn't. He's a big minus with the Rangers--a big minus with the Wolfpack--very often he's not even getting shots. There's a lot about him right now that screams for a new beginning somewhere else. It's quite likely though we'll get the best return if we package him but that might mean waiting for the deadline.

Yeah, Christmas came early for his haters.

But I don’t know, his big problem is pace. Always has been. Was the first thing I commented on after following him closely in the WJSS after we drafted him.

But the kid got a lot more quality than many are giving him credit for in other areas. He didn’t pass DQs test to ever get to play to those strengths, right or wrong.

Do players typically ever play for that team if they’ve made a public trade request?

I feel like it’s rare. I give credit to those holding out hope he changes his mind but once he made this public he made his bed

He also sped up the process if we’re being honest. He was almost assuredly going to get traded before next season anyways

Man prospects these days are spoilt brats. What did this guy ever show?

We are going to need to do a potential bust for potential bust trade and hope the change of scenery helps both players.

I loathe the Knicks, and literally shake my head every time we are bumped to MSG2 for the slop they serve on the main network, but very fair comp on Lias and Frank.

Bottom line, both are irrelevant.

Drouin though he got traded like a year later

I’m going to play Devil’s Advocate here: the blame being placed on HFD in this thread is badly misplaced. Knoblauch and his staff have turned that team from an absolute dumpster fire to a team that’s a top contender in the AHL. The situation with Kravtsov was not solely on the coaching staff, and it makes no sense to try to lump it in here.

Lias was given every opportunity to succeed after his demotion, and he did nothing with it.

I’m sorry but now that Lias has requested a trade I hope he amounts to nothing the way he is now. Of course I hope whatever we get becomes a superstar and wins multiple championships like every fan hopes.
