I have a hard time seeing the Rangers ignoring a major mental health issue from a player, let alone pushing them harder after being made aware of it.

Which one of us speaks Swedish and read the actual quotes? He did not say what you think he said, dumbass.

I dont need to speak Swedish, you just translated it for me. You basically just assured me that i was right. Thanks Toby, I hope you and Adam Herman live happily ever after

I remember Quinn commenting last year on Vesey being really hard on himself but not Lias. Seems unlikely he'd have known of a mental health issue. He's pretty protective of his players in the media.

You still don’t get it. I’m actually embarrassed for you right now.

I only talk down to ignorant boomers such as yourself.

Again i am 25. I know its been a rough few weeks for you with Lias falling off a cliff but we will all get thru this together. You can find a new player to become attached to.

Make sure this one has a shot at the NHL maybe...Would save you some face

It could have been handled better.

I don't understand the implication that the Rangers are particularly great with this matter.

I think they realized it pretty quick into his tenure. I had a couple buddies win an interview with Giannone one night as a Garden giveaway between periods. He told them he would never play again for the Rangers. Later on we figured out what he meant...

This whole situation has been so weird. Gordie Clark was gushing about the kid’s intangibles and mental toughness but I’m surprised nobody saw any red flags. If the kid does have a mental issue then I do sympathize and hope he can get better but it seems like the FO missed something bigtime

You are still clearly having some boomer takes.

You should learn to read, it’s a useful skill.

Dereks family, who knew him better than anyone, weren’t “on top” of his situation.

Terrible analogy bud.
Fair enough, but again, where does the idea come from that it's unbelievable that this would happen on the Rangers?

Even if we're not casting blame on them for what happened to Boogaard, at the very least, they had no idea.

I don’t see any mental issues with Lias.

I see confidence issues, maturity issues, and resentment towards Quinn which I can’t fully fault him for.

If it is indeed an issue with HFDs coaching, we'll see how good Knoblach is without Shesty being there.

For Lias, I'm glad he's bringing up the year and a half under left on the contract. Was thinking about that the other day, he has no reprieve.

But the interview did state a couple of things, which may be lost in translation, but he did say a number if things that lead me to believe he's done with the Rangers.

One of him feeling safe back home.
Two referring to hockey options in Europe.

Perhaps the real issue is that he and the Rangers both came to terms that he's a career Euroleaguer, the player based on his performance and the organization perhaps trying to recoup a top 10 pick by pushing this guy over his limits.

Teams miss out on character guys taken in the first every year, and time to time it happens in the top 10.

Bennet, Jost.

Krebs will be another.

It happens, but as long as your management doesn't get enamored by interviews overlooks skill, effort or athletic ability, you will be fine.

I don’t understand why so many people pick sides on here, especially without having all the facts.

It’s possible that both sides have their share of blame. It’s extremely possible that Lias was going through a tough period mentally, but let it foster until he felt like NYR was negligent and made a rash decision without finding a better way to communicate this to Gorton and co. Maybe NYR did a poor job managing his headspace through the demotion, it doesn’t necessarily make them unsympathetic or fully aware of what was actually going on.

The truth will come out, but I think a lot of you will be disappointed to find it wasn’t entirely Lias being entitled and petulant or Quinn and co. being cold and negligent - it will be a gray area like most fallouts between two parties.

I think there is blame on both sides absolutely. However there had to be some red flags that were there especially if you picking a player 7th overall
