Now, when they visited Andersson in his D+1 year, it was probably after he was hurt during the world juniors. He suffered a separated shoulder:

Reported on January 10th, so if we say 4 weeks recovered and give him until February 10th to return, that would fit the timeframe. Based on his gamelog, he was back on 1/24. Two weeks recovery. Maybe it wasn't long enough and he was forced back into the lineup? That could be the first incident they were referencing.

It'd be hard to find other instances, due to him being shuffled and healthy scratched from games, but if he's been forced to play while injured it'd explain why he reacted this way.

They say he left because of mental health issues? Kravtsov seemed broken for a while too when he left. What is Knoblauch doing down there in Hartford?
Not blaming Knoblauch for doing his job....unless he crossed a line like Peters did. But if he did not, if he was being a coach, and being very hard on them to prepare them for the next level then maybe they arent going to make it.

If he has mental health issues thats another discussion.

If he was banged up and it was bothering him, going home is not the answer to deal with it.

A lot of details still up in the air and TBD

To be honest I'd be real surprised if they pressured/forced him to play while injured in his D+1 year. there'd be no reason for it, they didn't need him to get into the lineup for any reason, he didn't need to prove anything to them that early.

Maybe Tony D is being too hard on the euro rookies on the team and is to blame for everything ;)

Either this kid is a head case or someone else in the organization is a much bigger and more dangerous one. Can't help but hope some sunshine gets thrown on this very, VERY soon. I would have found the idea that our front office would, especially now, put HFD in the charge of problem coaches or allow bad craziness in the room almost incredible... until I remember their first choice for the NYR job has apparently had a very serious substance problem that likely preceded his NHL hire. Anything seems possible. I hope we get this understood properly, fixed if need be, and behind us ASAP.

So coming out today that he actually is having some mental health issues. I don’t think much of him as a hockey player but hope he can get to a good place mentally. Hockey second.

That's not what came out today. I just read a rough translation, where Andersson couldn't help but drop that he thinks he's the 2nd best center on the team. That is currently false, and even if it wasn't, I still see no reason for him straight up leaving. The inferences from some posters that Knoblauch, while navigating a 1st place team in Hartford, is driving prospects to mental health issues is absolutely insane.

So he waited 2 years to stick it to the organization about playing hurt? Makes no sense.

In my opinion, and opinions are all we have right now, we've got a player with the same mental immaturity as some posters on this board who whine about Andersson "not getting a chance." After not getting the 2C spot handed to him on a silver platter, he's gradually checked out. Good riddance. The Rangers dont need a player like that.

You need a better translation, that wasn’t at all what he Said.

I highly doubt the Rangers we’re desperately rushing him back to play as if they needed him that badly lol

Lias never said he was the 2nd best C in NYR, he said he thought he earned a spot below Mika in the lineup... as in 2C, 3C or 4C, this was after camp this season...

Thats literally implying he thought he shouldve been the 2c...? No telling you wrong though, Toby

Ultimately I just wouldn't be surprised if this is a case of a guy who's maybe not quite as good as he thinks he is and a coaching staff not quite willing to give him a better chance.

Look, I want/ed to like Andersson and still honestly think he could be better than Howden who's looking like a 4th liner, but Andersson also disappointed me in never really seeming to grab hold of the play and do anything with it. Even at his best he was merely facilitating moving the puck around the ice (which was more than Howden was doing at the time but whatever) rather than showing any real ability to generate offense or stand out some way.
That said, from what we saw on the outside the coaches could have maybe done more to give him a chance instead of coddling Howden just because he "worked hard" or something.

Maybe the coaches demanded some stuff of him that he thought he did and then they demanded something else, maybe he didn't like what they were doing, or their methods were demeaning. Pretty hard to say.

But something doesn't really add up about the whole thing. the Rangers are usually considered a pretty first class organization that supports their players, so, I dunno.

Never said it was the only time, in fact, he even mentioned there were more instances. The shoulder was the first. Who knows right now. We're only going to get his side of the story. The rangers will never publicly comment until they have to.

For now, he's clearly got some mental hurdles he needs to clear. Not everyone deals with things the same way. Hopefully he figures things out and being home is the best thing for him

If there were serious mental health issues he wouldn’t have left the team and the. Be suspended he would have requested a leave of absence like everyone else in that situation and they would have announced hes out indefinitely for personal reasons.

Either the organization treated Lias worse than any player in history or he's softer than baby shit. That's what I got from the interview a couple pages back, though something could have be lost in the translation.

You're wrong

Does this sound like someone was demanding of him to play injured?
Yes, that's exactly the tone of it.

I'd imagine something hurt they couldn't ID, he got told to suck it up nothing was there, pouted, it never got better, pouted more, and eventually got pissed and left.

In the end time will tell but it's the most reasonable explanation afaict.
