Modo won game #7 4-0. After 7 years in HA, the club is back in SHL. It is the hometown team of Anders Hedberg, Peter Forsberg, Markus Näslund, Niklas Sundström, Sammy Påhlsson, Henrik & Daniel Sedin, Tobias Enström, Victor Hedman, Viktor Olofsson among others. Linus Ullmark played there also and of course Zuke.
So the question now is what happens to Liam. Another year in Sweden is likely, but is he going to stay in DIF or getting loaned to a SHL club.

So we're feeling pretty good about him at this point, right?
I feel just about as good as I did after Boldy's college freshman year, his season after being drafted. His season was fine and wasn't high on the pick either. Careful optimism, which turned out better than I thought.

I admit freely I'm simply stat watching, but based on what I've seen and heard I feel the same as I did a year ago. I think he's a good prospect, hopefully he can keep building on it. So far he has. He just needs to keep improving a little bit each year and he'll be a fine player in the NHL someday. Easier said than done, but this year appears to have been a step in the right direction.

Current hope is something like a 2nd best player on a good 2nd line, best player on a good 3rd line.

I'm personally thinking worst player on a good second line, best or second best on a good third line, so we're pretty in line there. Somewhere between Jordan Greenway and how Gus Nyquist for us down the stretch.

He had a pretty good qualification run, but was still fourth on his own team in scoring. It's also still Allsvenskan, not the SHL. So I'm still not sold on his offensive upside in the NHL yet. I'd like to see him start producing points in a good league. Until then, I'm not really going to get my hopes up, but I will say he'll need to be a definite top six player for it to not be a little disappointing.

He was a no show when it mattered the most, so he should fit in seamlessly here.

Heading to Färjestad.
A team that wears green and has employed Joel Eriksson Ek, Jonas Brodin, and Marcus Johansson. Interesting. Are we Farjestad West?

They turn out NHLers pretty regularly, so I'll be curious to see how he does in their system, away from his draft buddies, Ostlund and Lekkerimaki.

Heading to Färjestad.

And it's official.

Brodin was so good. He spent one year in the SHL post draft, then the next year 9 AHL games, before he was promoted to the NHL. Would be nice to have more prospects who are capable of playing that quickly.

This is MN , that doesn’t happen here. Instead we get a Rossi with our only recent top 10 pick. The hawks have a 1 in 10 chance at Bedard and they hit. We can’t even get a f***ing NHL player at #9

Or did we squash his offensive potential by putting him in the NHL too quickly?

Will be interesting in seeing how Färjestad will use him. The team is stacked on wingers and I thought it was a C or perhaps two of them that were on the radar. Nygård, Nilsson, Åslund, Ejdsell, Forsell, Lindqvist, Öhgren, Lawner and Björklund are (although Åslund and Ejdsell can play C) are clear wingers looking at past two seasons and their preference.

He will have to fight for icetime which I think is great for his development.

I think arguments can be made that Brodin, Greenway and Coyle were all rushed and lost some invaluable offensive development. Luckily, the current regime seems more patient with prospects

IIRC, Coyle’s development in general was a mess. No stability with teams or position

I don't agree at all with Brodin, and I don't think many others would, at all. He was clearly top4 or better right from the start. He earned his spot with his play.

The same argument could probably be made for Ek, who managed to turn into a solid offensive player eventually.

Both can be true. He can/could be considered a Top 4 defensemen from the start while also thrusting him into that role could have limited his offensive upside.

He was definitely NHL ready when he came up, but the argument is that he could’ve cultivated more offense if given more time in SHL or AHL.
