Across the Spiderverse was triple A. Might win the Oscar again.

As a Spidey fan and someone who always loathed Marvel's attempt at replacing Peter Parker just for demographics's sake, with the likes of Miles Morales, I absolutely loved the two animated movies.

The rest is shit, I agree.
I didnt see the new movie yet , but if it's anything like the first one , it must be a great movie.
The spiderman cartoon with Miles Morales is the only movie/cartoon that they got right.
They ruined ( Disney mostly ) all our childhood superheros , Avengers , DC, Star wars ( starting at ep 7) and so on . f*** ! i just watched the latest Star Trek epi and they turned it into a f***ing musical, a musical !!!

To be honest acting wise the sequel trilogy is the best of the Star Wars franchise. Writing was shit at times but as movies they stand alone better than the OT or Prequels which had campy acting on top of bad to terrible writing, just amazing effects and world building for their time. If you introduced a new hope to anyone over the age of ten they would call it crap. But that's what happens when visuals are the substance of your franchise, visuals will get better over time and make you look dated. I don't like star wars that much though as I don't have the same childhood nostalgia for it.

That's why Lord of the Rings can't be made again, rather I should say improved on, the writing is already perfect and the effects are grounded in reality. That's why the hobbit movies and Amazon series are so bad, they stray extremely far from Tolkien's writing. Modern fantasy writers can't even compete because Tolkien wasnt just a nerd with a good idea, he was a linguist who built a world around functioning languages he designed.

Loki, Wandavision and What If? were the three best shows IMO. The rest were meh. As for Secret Invasion, after a promising first episode, the rest Secret Invasion was trash, especially the ending.

Hoping Loki redeems the television side of things. This does look promising.

I thought these shows were horrible. It wasn't Loki on that show, it was a damn p***y. And nothing happened. And Wanda it started original but self destructed in the second half.

It is normal to feel sad about childhood idols dying.

I don't really care about celebrities but I'll probably be pretty bummed when Paul McCartney dies.
Hope you didn’t jinx Paul as I just bought tix to see him in concert in a couple of months

Yeah no. I've seen that tried and people do like the original SW movies after the age of ten.

It can be tempting to be a contrarian and I get why you're doing it but ultimately those films have strong fundamentals such as editing, musical score, and acting.

There are no good performances in the sequel trilogy is you can't have a good performance without good writing. A sequence of independent scenes doesn't work. None of the characters have a personality other than Kylo Ren being a brat -- which is admittedly a role.

Disagree on the Strange New Worlds musical episode. I enjoyed it for what it was, a zany one-off… even if they missed an opportunity: opera would have been a natural for a space opera with Klingons.

That show is unequal, and at its best when it’s not taking itself too seriously. Its writing is certainly better than the bottom-of-the-barrel fan-fic drivel in Picard and Discovery.

I think trhe episodes have been fun sofar. They''re goling futher with the characters than you woul've seen in Roddenberry times. Spock gets humanized just as the mother-in-Law comes calling. That was good, the memory loss due to radiation from an asteroid belt reminded me of a TNG episode. Nurse Chapel is quite pretty. Anson Mount seems to be having fun. The last one I saw, with the animated cadets going back in time and changing into flesh and bloods was strange, but it had its moments. That’s as far I got.

I'm getting close to 20,000, is trere a prize?

Saw TNT with my son last night, it’s awesome, reminds me of my childhood and he loved it . 10/10 on aesthetics, love that style not sure if there’s a name for it (comic book style visual). They don’t really follow 100% the original storyline but it works anyway

Meg 2 on the schedule for this week, I know it will be garbage but I like garbage from time to time

Writing was shit at time? It looked like it was written by a 10 years old who's not good at writing. At least the original trilogy looked like it was written by a 10 years old who was actually potent at writing. Rise of the skywalker is probably the worst movie i watched in the last 20 years.

That was more because the first sequel was trying to pay homage to a new hope and then they did rewrites for the third because they changed directions. I watched them knowing how much people hated them and didn't think they were remotely as bad as nerds said. They definitely were angry because every character wasn't white and the lead was a girl.

Likewise I grew up watching the original trilogy and I do not think it aged well at all. I think too many people got caught up in the fact that star wars is literally for children and couldn't understand why there were sections of the movie designed for children. Acting wise Daisy was the best lead of the movie franchise. Obviously Pedro Pascal is fantastic in the mandalorian.

I also don't understand the writing criticism comparatively speaking when the OT was literally cheesy one liners with zero depth in any form.

I don't care about the lead being a girl and i don't care if people are not white. Lando was one of the most interesting caracter of the original trilogy and Leia played a big role. The writing was just awtul. The dagger map thing was laughable. I literally almost stopped the movie at that point. I could not believe a professional screenwriter could come up with something that stupid. It was an insult to my brain. My brain itself felt offended by it.

That's the thing though these interesting characters in the OT have like five to ten lines of dialogue total, people literally only care about the costumes and lightsabers. It was a movie designed specifically to sell toys and the writing is absolute garbage. But it's now the basis of the Star wars universe so ridiculous things like a clunker ship outrunning state of the art equipment or droids saving the day and somehow never being caught are acceptable.

People just need to accept star wars was the fast and the furious of its time.
