For those who likes history and are not against watching docu-series as those usually completely sucks, but the ones from Netflix The rise of Ottoman is quite well done. Season 2 is out with the war against Vlad Dracula and as the first season, I am impress as they are so well done compare of those typical docu-series. They did even better than they with their series Roman Empire

Of course it can't compare to a real series but it's in terms of the production it's pretty good and impressive for those type of series.

Warning, some scenes can be deranging as they depict very well the cruelty of those years....and since half of it is about Vlad Dracula, those who knows their history, knows what to expect!

Looks really in my cup of tea. And the actors seems to be real Romanians as well.

Speaking of good history series, Romulus is worth checking out. It's filmed in archaic Latin with English subtitles. It provides a fascinating take on the founding of Rome and the story of its founders Romulus and Remus. It also provides a pretty realistic and authentic portrait of mid 8th Century BCE Italy. It's not at all like the movie "Troy".

Anyone seen Nope yet? It’s on my list. Thanks in advance
Loved it dude, very original for the "topic"
At first the "reveal" kind of bummed me out, but only for a couple mins upon thinking about it, it ended helping the originality overall
Liked Daniel Kaluuya a lot, the girl was a tad annoying lol

Thought I'd mention this film as it was on a while back at the center as it was filmed in Quebec city of all places. It caused quite the uproar back then too in Quebec due to the subject matter. After the uproar,Hitchcock vowed never again he would step into Quebec. Not his best film but still worth a look.

Has anyone seen the John Ford movies that Spielberg rewatches constantly as a source of inspiration before he starts filming a new project?

He mentions The Searchers, The Informer, Tobacco Road, Stage Coach.

White Lotus season 2: 8.25/10 great season even better than the 1st.

His Dark Materials season 3: 6.8/10 a good adaptation from great books.

I’ll beg to differ on the White Lotus. Not that Season 2 wasn’t great (it was) but the first season was better for me as resort manager Armond’s self-destruction and steep downward spiralling and excesses, were riveting and gut splitting.

There was nothing in Season 2 that stood up to the suitcase scene in Episode 6 of Season 1 — I have never saw such an outrageous segment in any series. All IMHO of course.

The tangled webs being weaved on The White Lotus — so many storylines getting intertwined and coming to a head. Only 2 episodes left but the intrigue has become riveting. And most of these characters are just despicable and some will be getting their comeuppance. Even the eye candy content is ramping up.

On your recommendation, watching White Lotus now. Two episodes into the first season and we’re enjoying it so far. Never expected to enjoy a show loaded with unlikeable characters LOL!

Finished S3 of Jack Ryan. I liked it, though felt a little underwhelmed by the finale.

The Searchers and Stage Coach are classics. I've watched them both at least 10 times over the years. The Informer was decades ago the last time I saw it. They are worth watching but remember many of the techniques and storytelling devices have been expropriated by filmmakers coming after John Ford. If you love visual storytelling, watch them.

Tobacco Road, I've never seen it.

But remember I'm a film buff. My sensibilities gravitate toward visual storytelling. I hate most shows on TV. So keep that in mind.

I liked Jack Ryan as well.

I just can't watch White Lotus, refuse to. I can't remember the name of the blonde lady, Stifler's mom, but when I see or hear her ...I contemplate drinking bleach. Just can't do it. I know it has great reviews but I won't allow myself to suffer.

Echo 3 was a solid show but I didn't like how it ended for some reason.

Stage Coach and the Searchers are must see and Tobacco Road was a hoot, worth seeing. Not sure but it might have inspired the Beverly Hillbillies.

I've yet to start Echo 3 but will hopefully this weekend.

S4 of Jack Ryan will be the last but I heard there will be a Rainbow Six spin-off with Michael Pena after.

Was watching the "La Voix", french version of The Voice for a few minutes. I don't know what it is nowadays with young singers male and female adopting a sort annoying whiny/whispery voice a la Coeur de Pirate. Might be my least favorite style of signing of all time. Who came up with this trash concept, when did it become fashionable? Now we hear it everywhere in movies, movie trailers, commercials. It makes me despises this timeline even more. I have nothing but contempt for the person that invented it. lol

Why are you even watching it? Is there a woman in your life that has control over the TV remote? :sarcasm:

In the Fablemans, he presents the influence Ford had on him. Even if Ford treated him like shit:laugh:

For anyone that like that 70’s show that 90’s show is far from great but there still some good nostalgia. The biggest issue is that the kids dialogue very bad and rushed. Basically all the part with the original cast is okish and the rest is pretty terrible and all over the place.

Saw Plane last night.

It's good for what it is, but there's no new ideas in that movie lol. For some reason I wanted Rambo to pop up
What amazes me is that there are still people out there who think Gerard Butler is a leading man. Dude makes dud after dud. Outside 300 and Law Abiding Citizen, has he ever made anything else worth a watch?

I legit enjoyed Olympus has Fallen. The latter two sequels not so much.

The prison guy was a better lead role in my opinion.

Yeah, I was actually rooting for him.

Saw You People this pm, lot of people will hate this money because of the typical black white joke, but it was pretty good. Well written, lot of talking but really good and funny dialogs
