Here’s a throwback for all of my fellow geezers out there. One of my favorite guilty pleasures is watching the late great John Candy parody Darryl Sittler on SCTV! From playing for the Toronto Bay Leafs to him mashing Cornabix cereal with Guy LaFluer “Joe Flaterly”!!!! “You lose your plate in Boston Darryl? Why don’t you just take some milk and mash it down Eh!

My favorite is Dana Carvey. He become expert in US presidents personifications.
His "Paul McCartney" is so funny. Dr Phil, George Bush Senior and George W Bush, lol and Mickey Rooney
Letterman in 2002

The next debate Biden-Trump in 2024

This one Paul McCartney explaining new things of today to Lennon

I remember two Quebecois movies where the actors did both languages. Les Plouffe and Bonheur d'occasion (The tin flute).
They were highly subventionned big movies at the time, not bad movies but my favorite quebecois movies are Les Mâles, La vraie nature de Bernadette, Réjeanne Padovani, Les Ordres, *Gina, J.A Martin photographe, Le déclin de l'empire américain, Jésus de Montréal and Un zoo la nuit.

1975 movie by Denys Arcand, *Gina have a car chase between a RoadRunner 383 Hemi with good winter tires chasing skidoos in the night, and killing them. A dancer having vengeange, mobs vs mobs bust around Sorel. An action movie.

I'm not sure I know what you mean by :They were highly subventionned big movies at the time. Are you referring to funding buy the government? Les Plouffe maybe, but Bohneur d'occasion was not a big movie, at least not like the other. It was surprisingly good to hear maman Plouffe ((Juliette Huot) speaking her lines in a heavily accented English. It sorta fit and didn't seem out of place. Same with Denyse Filiatrault.

Quebec is a bit of an underdog when it comes to movies, so many good ones go unnoticed, it's a shame.

Denys Arcand with le Déclin and les invasions , Xavier Dolan with Mommy, j'ai tué ma mère, Anne Dorval is fabulous.

Quebec actors also tend to get the short end of the stick when it comes to English roles in big budget US productions. American filmmakers shooting in Montreal will sometimes not even bother casting local talent, they’ll almost always go with Toronto actors.

Montreal casting agents, esp. the bigger outfits, are also contributing to the problem. There is a huge bias going on and Montreal agents are facing a massive uphill battle just to get their actors considered for an audition. What a brutal business.

Feet, esp. when it comes to a lot of men, are an eyesore.

I don’t want to be “Finding Feet” that look anywhere like this:

Feet, armpits, nostrils, ear canals, missing or decaying, yellowed teeth — I don’t want to see any production title that evokes any of the above. 🤮

The less said about feet, the better! All my years and not once has a buddy elbowed me and said ''check out her feet'' not once! Ass,yup, rack, you know it,feet?never.

I started watching it and I’ll likely finish it, but I’m not crazy about it.

I did think it seemed similar to Jon Benet’s case at first, but one main, important difference.
I think I understand what happened. I am pretty sure I fell asleep and woke up missing half the story line. I’m going to revisit.

Guess I'll check it out then

Edit. I thought the name felt familiar until I noticed it's actually a spin-off from the popular game, Cyberpunk 2077

Yeah, it's a spin off from the game. The game was ok, it was awesome in terms of lore/world building and it translates very well in the anime. I'm a sucker for the cyberpunk genre and ultra violent anime so this was all candy from start to finish to me. I just finished it and loved it.

I had 60 hours+ on my first run, then stopped playing. I started playing it again over the weekend after watching the show. All the bugs are still there :(. Anyway, like some people said elsewhere: the show was kinda depressing. (but I liked it. Evangelion was probably way more depressing)

The Capture S2 is alright so far. Still early into it and haven't immersed myself yet.

"Old age" BBC drama akin Bodyguard, One, Young Wallander, etc.

Trakt has been disappointing for some time now. I meant they can watch Seal Team and Lucifer themselves instead of floating those up at me. Got really thin in UK/European front with them. Tried exporting a list for Runner from my ~350 watched & logged shows on trakt. Thought it'd be quicker. but turns out you can't filter by country of production or network.

NOT a free service at all is trakt.

I "swallowed" it in one go with only 2-3 breaks. Pleasant surprise.

Another is a Canadian series I never saw before - Coroner. It's whatever, but then gets this rebellious streak about it. I like that about it's writing. Sure, let's pile on as much as we can!

Thanks for following up.

Don’t give yourself too much trouble. Just offering your selections in drips and drabs is great as we’re able to more easily follow your selections at any given time.

Bordertown
Karppi (alright) - I'm not a big fan of Pihla Viitala (actor starring as Sofia Karppi), but she looks good here. Emphasis on looks.

I'll keep spitting there out as they filter through my brain.

The above is hardcore politics. If you want to get a quicker jumpstart with it - read up on Danish cabinet and how it's formed.

Yeah, it wasn’t the pacing or anything that put me to sleep. I’ve been exercising religiously and my entire sleep schedule changed. I used to be up until 1-2am night. Ever since I started running it’s a struggle to reach 10pm.

I'm envious,

For the last months I've been on 24h asleep / 72 awake routine. Stay up two 3 nights until visual and then auditory hallucinations creep in. Only then, totally zombie-like I can pass out and what's worse for 12=18 hours at a time or longer. Need to see a specialist but super busy with house/wedding/work+travel. Just rolling with the punches.

Sorry about the whining.

How can you sleep 12 hours without getting up to pee? I'm up after 4 hours max, if I remember not to drink too much water before. 18 hours, I would explode long before that.

I used to deal with the same screwed up sleep schedule. I feel so much better having sorted it out. I feel like when I am over tired I tend to get overly emotional too. I have hard time dealing with stresses etc and for a long time I feel like I was a walking zombie with my terrible sleep schedule.

I have family over for the UFC on Saturday nights most weekends and I have been struggling to make it to the beginning lol. Sounds like you have a lot on the go. Important to take time just for you and to relax. Goodluck with the schedule, hopefully it will ease up soon. You getting married?

Honestly I rarely ever remember getting up to take a leak. Not sure how I manage that because I drink plently of water.

Thanks man! All the best to you and yours as well.

Not just married, building a freaking house (naturally not literally, just overseeing the work), bouncing between work UK/Malaysia and trying to visit mom and sister back in Montreal..
Pretty brutal, but thankfully I'm no longer going through something this stressful alone.

And yup, flying to Georgia (the country and my birthplace) in October with a party of 15-20 to get married. It was her idea and I loved it. She's not Georgian, and as MIdwest as it gets (in the best way!) so I was touched by her putting some real thought into the location. I was gonna suggest the seediest bar in St. Louis after midnight as the spot.

Netflix keeps recommending me all of Mark Wahlberg's movies for some reason.

I saw one with him for sure, a good one, and I think something awful like a videogame based movie or similar.

Watching "DAHMERr" in bed.

Started craving something to eat. :sarcasm:
