We rarely disagree my friend but I am sticking to the fact that it was staged. With the number of people that get canceled today for simply saying the wrong thing and then we witness an act of violence on live TV and no charges are pressed and everything is fine and dandy, seems a little bit off to me. If Smith loses his career then I will change my view but until then I maintain that it was staged for the sake of ratings. Let's see if the left goes after one of their own?
Smith is very protective of is image I can’t see why he would go along with this or why he would not have better PR prepared or why it wouldn’t have come out by now. This make Will look awful…

The Last Kingdom may have become my favorite show of all the time. I started watching that cause I was starved for swords and battles after Vikings and Games of The Thrones. But contrary to Game of Thrones, it stick the landing.

I dont know why it's even considered a low blow. He didn't make fun of her sickness, he poked fun at her look bringing up GI Jane, who people seem to forget is this complete bad ass soldier who perseveres through all the macho misogynist BS of being in the army brings to her. This is one of the mildest poke jokes I've heard.
To make it even weirder, JPS has discussed her sickness publicly and said she fully embraces it.
Even Rock after the slap says "dude, it was a GI Jane joke", in other words "wtf man".

Did you hear Rebel Wilson's joke? Referencing all the men she cheated on Smith with? Another thing JPS has publicly discussed.
The woman even admitted to having slept with her son's rapper friend.

What will did wad the most macho thing one could do, to me it shows more about the emasculanation Will probably is going through. The man is broken and clearly going through some things because this is not normal or acceptable behavior.

I wonder if what happened wasn't the consequence of what Rebel Wilson said. Like Will saw this and thought the next person that says something about my wife, I'll do something about it.

It’s OK to not agree, none of us are close enough to the situation, so we’re left with connecting dots.

I can only say that in all my time here, I was never able to convince anyone of anything. Not that I was trying, I just realized early on that my version of the “facts” is not always the perception by someone else. Plus, there is a point of diminishing returns where you can spend a ton of time researching sources and it won’t matter one iota once the thread page changes to some other subject.

I believe that’s a worthy accomplishment. My streak of making unconvincing points continues, I see! 🤣
That’s not true. You convinced me Goliath was worth watching. I’m glad you did. Lol

The Servant S3 : That same weird, slow moving story and sinister vibe as the first two season. A little disapointed there's still so many things left unanswer, after 3 seasons I'm still not sure at all of what actually going on. But strong acting performance and super uncomfortable atmosphere kept me going. 7.6\10

Moonfall : I don't know. The acting was meh, the special effect are okay for that type of movie......but the scenario, the story, just don't make any sense and even stupid at many points. They just invent stuff at every turn to put a crazy story and tons of special effects together. They could have stick with the starting plot and developed well instead of this overload of none sense 5.2\10

The « fall » in Moonfall is when you fall asleep while watching it, as it happened to me. This is the Therrien equivalent of using a blender on a storyline.

Ugh, there was a storyline? 😝

Well, I am losing ground with my claim that it was staged but Smith resigned, he wasn't punished yet. Did you see the footage of JPS laughing after Smith slapped Rock?
Smith wanted so badly to win that he refused to leave the show. And now he resigns and there’s still no significant fallout? I’d say he’s ruined whatever was left of his reputation. All for what?

I can't watch the Fresh Prince of Belair the same way ever again. Same with the Bad Boys.

Also, if it was staged, then that makes Will an even worse person.

Friggin’ coward. Instead of facing the music, he ducked and quit before he ended up suspended anyway.

Also, how about returning the statue? He has serious anger management issues and makes everything about himself.

You are completely right but at the same time, it was pretty damn smart from his camp to do that. lol Esp. the way the freaking Academy are taking forever to reach a decision.

They are supposed to be something a prestigious thing representing the love for movies. As such, to send a message, he should get a lifetime ban from getting any trophies. Just like it would be for any Hall of Fame type honors.

They need to step up and punish him, if a fan rushed the stage and did something like that he/she would have been cuffed and thrown in jail. I felt it was staged because I couldn't believe that someone that famous would risk everything over a joke. I still can't understand why Rock stood there with his hands behind his back and just took it, hence the reason I thought it was staged.

Ya she laughed, a lot of people did, because they thought it was a joke until he sat back down and started shouting at which point you see her crisp up like the rest of crowd.
Dude, it was obviously not staged, you were wrong..no point in doubling down here.
The Academy also said Smith resigning does not put an end to their investigation/process, so..

Like seriously, at this point, it was obviously real.

You dont make any sense man. lol
There is no reason for Rock to be in some defensive fight stance. Nobody ever thought this would happen, live on such a big stage no less, so why would he put his hands up?
Furthermore, this isn't a fan, this is Will Smith, a mega Hollywood star. Obviously he will get privileged treatment over some random fan rushing the stage. Do you not know the world you live in?

Let's see how it all plays out in the coming weeks and if I am wrong, it wouldn't be my first time. I felt it was staged because it seemed inconceivable that someone could do something that dumb and risk losing everything. Also, I can't understand why Rock put his hands behind his back and leaned into the slap, that seems really odd to me.

It seems you just want it to be fake and so are looking at any tidbit to give credence to your opinion.
Chris Rock was laughing when Smith walked up to him because he's a comedian, Smith is at the very least a good acquaintance if not a friend, so he's probably thinking he's going to say/do something funny or harmless.
In no way is he thinking ''Will Smith is going to hit me'', and you can tell that by his reaction.
Heck, you, yourself, say it's inconceivable someone would do that, so there you go. Everyone agrees that's it's inconceivable, Chris Rock included, which explains his reaction.
It's inconceivable someone gets turned on by having someone else take a dump on their face and yet, it happens.

And again, if it were to be fake, you have not come up with a single credible motive as to why they'd do that. Money? Fame? No, they both have more than plenty of it. Ratings? Nope, they don't work for the Academy. So why??
Not to mention, neither of those guys are known for that type of comedy. If it was Jim Carey, then I'd be more inclined to side with you, but it wasn't.
