I thought the special effects in Terminator 5 were fine. The characters and the plot are dumb, comically bad screenwriting, but the software people who worked on the movie did a great job.

I finally started watching Game of Thrones season 4 (really digging it so far).

I haven't read books 4 or 5 however (I've read the first three).

How much of this season's GoT include material from book 5?

What A-list movie ever has bad special effects? Of course the rest of the movie stunk, we are living in the age where chase/fight scenes need to be at least 20 minutes long and no one cares about plot, character development or any of that nonsense. Hell the new Mad Max got 98% on RT and there's zero plot but it looked nice.

Ant Man is coming out this weekend I wonder if it will he the first Marvel film not to get a good critical score.

I usually am interested in superheroe movies even though there's just way too many of them out there but Ant Man is zero attractive to me. I'll probably watch it the day it comes on The Movie Network.

Utopia is awesome. One of my favorite tv show.

I'm anxious about the US remake/adaptation. On HBO, David Fincher is supposed to direct all the episode with Gone Girl’s Gillian Flynn writing. Rooney Mara is rumored for Jessica.

In theory it sound nice but when was the last time a remake was superior ? They better not touch the music...

I think we're all curious and worried at the same time about the U.S. version.

I would be very surprised if they keep the same music and this will be a huge "loss in translation".

Age of Ultron.

Star Wars had the most simplistic plot ever. Same with Lord of The Rings. Regarded as absolute classics and some of the best reviewed films of all time. Thing is they had a great story. Plot does not equal story. Same goes for MadMax. The movie told a wonderful story despite having minimal dialogue and a straightforward plot. There was a lot of character developement and symbolism throughout. That's why it got rave reviews. Also the great practical effects, costume design, acting and screenplay helped.

Would not compare to the new terminator. That movie is as shallow as it comes capitalising on peoples love for the first 2 films (3rd was good too if you ask me). It has no story or plot.

Anybody here watched Vikings and the Sopranos ? If so a little review would be more than welcome :)

No review needed for Sopranos. Probably the best TV series of all time along with Breaking Bad in my opinion.

Vikings is a pretty good show as well. Acting is usually good. The supporting cast for the most part is excellent. Floki and Rollo in particular are great characters. Some characters are really annoying like the Princess of France who has the most horrific fake accent I've ever heard. It can get cheesy at times like most other fiction TV shows but it is pretty high quality overall. I wish it focused more on Floki and Rollo in particular rather than just Ragnar most of the time although they do a much better job of that in the third season.

The action scenes are some of the best I've seen on TV. Not quite Game of Thrones episode 9 quality but close.

Plot is very simple. The show often struggles when it tries to be too dramatic. I'd like it much better if it took a more historical approach and cut out some of the unnecessary drama.

The costume design, screenplay and overall feel of the show is fantastic. It creates a wonderful atmosphere.

The show is pretty violent and there are some gruesome scenes. Again, not quite as gruesome as GOT but still pretty violent compared to most of whats out there.

Overall, I recommend it. It's pretty solid. It's certainly not HBO, AMC of FX quality but better than most of what's out there. That trailer for season 4 looks fantastic as well and now that the groundwork has been laid out in the previous seasons, I think the show will only get better.

That being said, there are better shows out there like Sopranos, the Wire, GOT, Breaking Bad, DareDevil, Hannibal, Hell on Wheels (Season 4 is awful though), True Detective...

I'd argue that the character development is pretty developed in Mad Max, sure the plot is thin but it's masterfully crafted.

So many great films don't have a plot. Dazed and Confused, Last Year at Marienbad, Eraserhead, Gummo, etc etc etc
