Well the new BvS trailer was okay I guess... looks like your average generic ''epic'' movie.

The new Xmen movie is filming at my old high school. Neat.

Well which high school is it? Spill the beans...

Anybody here watched Vikings and the Sopranos ? If so a little review would be more than welcome :)

Vikings is definitely interesting and worth a watch but there are better shows out there.

Sopranos is tough one to rate as it's one of the best shows of it's time but difficult to tell how well it's held up considering it's 15 years old now. I'm tempted to give it a re-watch especially since the early seasons have been released in widescreen, something that The Wire hasn't done and I believe is impossible due to source material. While I'm glad I stuck with The Wire until the end I wouldn't rate it among the best shows ever contrary to popular opinion and certainly not in the same league as Breaking Bad.

Thank you!

These are the ones I haven't seen yet from your list:

Hustle
Hannibal
Person Of Interest
Silicon Valley

Will give them a try this weekend.

I had hopes for Person of Interest but it only held my interest( no pun intended) for 3/4 of the first season. It's good but not great.

I will add other titles:

Chuck
Fringe
Archer
The Americans
Ray donovan
Peep Show

I don't know if you understand french but i will also add these series:

Les invincibles (the Québec version)
Série noire
Ces gars là

Fringe is just ok and while I have absolutely nothing against female lead actresses I just couldn't get beyond the wooden performance of this actress.

Thanks for the french suggestions. I do like to throw in some Quebecois television in the mix every once and awhile and I did enjoy Les Invincibles which was recommended by one of my buddies.

Peaky Blinders
Daredevil
Shameless
Vikings
Banshee
Hannibal
Archer
Ray Donovan
Borgen
The Good Wife
Black Sails
Spartacus (mini serie and season 1)
Rome
The Shield
Sons of Anarchy
Deadwood
The Newsroom
The 100 (season 1 is bad, season 2 is really good)
Marco Polo

Ah now we're talking. We share the same taste in shows !

Hard to go wrong with almost anything made by HBO to be honest.

Was hooked on The 100 for awhile but I'm not sure if it's actually a good show or not if that makes any sense. It's also one of the most unashamed racist shows I've ever seen without giving up any spoilers. Watch it and you'll see what I mean.

Black Sails is my latest guilty pleasure. It's like Game of Thrones when it was actually good. Latest season of GoT was a real let down. Show might have jumped the shark.

Instead of listing shows that everyone recommends I'll list off a few that rarely ever get mentioned and I really enjoyed.

Star Wars had the most simplistic plot ever. Same with Lord of The Rings. Regarded as absolute classics and some of the best reviewed films of all time. Thing is they had a great story. Plot does not equal story. Same goes for MadMax. The movie told a wonderful story despite having minimal dialogue and a straightforward plot. There was a lot of character developement and symbolism throughout. That's why it got rave reviews. Also the great practical effects, costume design, acting and screenplay helped.

Would not compare to the new terminator. That movie is as shallow as it comes capitalising on peoples love for the first 2 films (3rd was good too if you ask me). It has no story or plot.

It got rave reviews because of the graphics and because of the fact it was Mad Max, don't delude yourself. Are you seriously trying to tell me a movie where the titled character sits in a truck with 7 hot planks of wood has some sort of meaning? MM almost said nothing to anyone, he didn't interact at all and the depth comes from scenes so **** they almost look right into the camera and say "repentence". A "wonderful story" I'm not sure you know what that is. 2 hours of chase scene with zero point is far from it.

Mad Max put women at the forefront and was about their redemption and revenge against their male overlords. It was them regaining their power and kicking ass; something we don't see very often in action films.

Mad Max actually subverted a lot action film ideals. Whether you noticed them or not, is your business. But it was rather progressive for an action film.

Max isn't the main character of the film, by the way. You missed the entire film. Furiosa is the main character.

Mad Max was exhausting to watch and failed to captivate my attention beyond the one hour mark.

Felt very average to me for an action flick. Don't quite understand what all the hype is about, but to each his own, I guess.

We see that often if not in every single action movie nowadays, women beating up men is pretty commonplace but it seems like you are grasping at something to give this movie credit for. Just call it what it is, a cash grab summer action flick with no thought/story and amazing graphics.

Oh man you saying "redemption" reminded me of that scene, it was as subtle as a sledgehammer. "What are you looking for?"...."Redemption." Such writing, much deepness.

Than they should have called it Furiosa : Fury Road. Oh wait had they done that they wouldn't have gotten near the ratings and cash, that would be silly.

I don't mean to be an ass, I really don't. But it seems like my taste in shows is the complete opposite of yours.

Outside of Sherlock there isn't one show on the list I liked.

P.S. I didn't watch them all, but the vast majority I've tried to.

Mad Max was an obscure franchise. If they were cash grabbing they would have made something better known.

Lol.

Dude, George Miller has been trying to make this film for over a decade. It wasn't a cash grab. It was a passion project. He loves the series. The series began as a hyper low budget exploitation flick. No one was asking for a new Mad Max film until we saw the trailer.

Name recent action films that are led by strong women who aren't talking about men for the entire film. This film brought on the Eve Ensler as a consultant to make sure the women in the film were represented properly. It was a deliberate choice.

Leave your "such and much" reddit speak out of here.

Good action is hard to find these days. We're saturated with horrible fight sequences and ****** cinematography that just makes action films a trivial genre.

When a film that puts extreme care and effort into its portrayal of violence and action, people take notice. Max Max, John Wick, and Furious 7 are all tremendous additions to the action genre.

Bojack Horseman is one of the worst things I've ever watched.

Maybe you should lighten up and take yourself less seriously. If I tried to sound pretentious and analyzed everything I watched or listened to I would go insane.

Bojack Horseman is most likely not the worst thing you ever watched.

Where were the graphics:help: The film used practical effects almost exclusively which is extremely refreshing from all the CGI that is used these days. You also confuse plot with story. The story is about objectification of women, slavery, PTSD. Nux's character alone see's more developement and tells more of a story than some movies I've seen. This movie uses action and expostition to get it's point across rather than dialogue and exposition.

I'm sorry you didn't get the movie and are incapable of seeing story through visuals and need very basic dialogue to tell you what is going on. If you didn't like it, that's fine. Just know that when you insult people's intelligence for liking a film a very well received film, you should at least do your research to see if there were things you missed.

Mad Max was entertaining but I never really got into the characters. The only person who knows I watched it amongst my friends/family is the person I was with. I had no desire to talk about it after I left the theatre.

Well it's always handy to have a point of reference. That way when I like a show/movie you know not to watch it lol. My intention was not to list my favorite or best shows, just the more obscure ones.

P.S. If you are looking for recommendations on something to watch then it would be helpful to mention shows that you've enjoyed and what you like about them That way people can narrow it down for you, other wise people will just be giving opinions on their favorite shows.

That's fine. Only reason I'm arguing with marble is because he essentially said everyone who enjoyed it is stupid and that I had no idea what a story is. There are better ways to go about saying you dislike a movie than insulting roughly 90% of the people who saw the movie.

So Batman vs Superman will essentially be a CGI fest with awkward dialogue. It looks pretty, but there doesn't appear to be any substance there. That's enough for the comic crowd to overhype it though.

Man of steel was one of the worst comic book movies i've ever seen. Although i'm not a big fan of superman I though it was a very dissapointing movie.
