I liked TD episode 3. Ballers is ok so far but not great. I'm really getting into the Brink. I find it quite entertaining
Watched Utopia (two seasons of 6 episodes) this weekend. I recommend it. They have it on CraveTv.
Anybody else here a big fan of Nicolas Winding Refn?

Ya man! But Only God Forgives was a little dissapointing. Felt like the actors didn't really cared, just going through the motions. Maybe there was something more profound to this directorial choice, but I didn't see it at first. Maybe I should watch it again.
But Drive was just great. And Valhalla Rising. Man I like that movie. Very powerful imagery and an interesting metaphor on our relationship with nature and religion.
Also, Bronson, but I was half drunk with friends when we watched it. Need to see that one again.
But Refn definitely looks like a guy who knows his ****.

Saw Terminator at Imax Marche Central. It was OK, nothing special but watchable. It was cool to see Arnold again. 7/10. Sound and picture were great and the theater was completely empty. I have 6 free tickets to Guzzo to use before Sept 30. Open to recommendations.
Ant Man is coming out this weekend I wonder if it will he the first Marvel film not to get a good critical score.
Best 2015 movies I have seen:
Ex Machina
Mad Max
The Clouds of Sils Maria
Have not had time but want to see:
Inside Out
When Marnie was There
Just warning you, Sils Maria is a drama.
Could you link me to your Age of Ultron review if you have it handy? I'd be interested in reading it.I went to watch Terminator Genysis tonight, in spite of all of the warnings. I think that due to being told it was pure garbage I was able to enjoy it.
Cons:
- Plot doesn't make any sense and is a pastiche of elements done better elsewhere. Why do you need a time machine to go ten years into the future? Why are there focal points in time?
- Characters behave irrationally, for example the only reason the T-1000 doesn't kill Reese and Connor in the clothing store is that he is holding back, which doesn't make any sense. He attaches himself to a mirror as they walk by, and then waits until they have some distance before hitting them. Also, why does Pops take a crappy gun to take down the original T-800? Why not use a good gun? There are issues like this throughout the movie;
- No sense of geography in some action scenes, for example when the T-800 disconnects the T-1000 from the van, they drove for 5 minutes, and the T-1000 catches up to them ... how does it know which side streets the van followed? Did the van go on in a straight line?
- Character emotional behaviour is befuddling ... Why doesn't Kyle suffer from PTSD? How is Sarah so socially-adjusted given that she was raised by a machine?
- Cynical appeals to pathos, for example that whole sequence with child Kyle Reese and the finger on the hand. We are supposed to like that scene because kids are cute;
Pros:
- Destruction Porn ... shots of LA blowing up at the start, really cool;
- Good cinematography, action scenes, special effects;
- Emilia Clarke looks hot, she really rocked that push-up bra;
- A few good jokes, for example after Kyle Reese acknowledges that he understood Arnold's exposition dump, the T-800 goes "Yes Kyle Reese". It's a funny joke because Arnold has been looking down on Kyle Reese all movie. "John Connor talks too much" is a funny line and shows that the movie is self-aware of what it is. Both jokes do actually.
Grade: C+. I think that nobody's going to remember this movie fifteen years from now or even two years from now, but it was better executed than Age of Ultron and Divergent 2. I'd put it on par with Jurassic World. It was fun in parts because the movie knew what it was: pure fan service.
Ongoing ranking of 2015 movies:
1) Ex Machina
1) The Clouds of Sils Maria
3) Mad Max
4) Jurassic World
4) Terminator Genysis
6) Avengers: Age of Ultron
7) Divergent 2
I am the biggest fan of True Detective and I was ecstatic when I heard about this season.... I'll just say it plainly, this show sucks balls. Four episode in and it doesn't captivate the attention at all like the other. The whole drama about Kitsch being gay, yaddayadda, thats not freaking true detective, it's Degrassi for christ sakes.
Terrible, so terrible that I stopped watching it in the middle of the third episode, and I'm not one to do that.
There's only been 3 episodes so far, not 4.
