Being memorable doesn't make it good. As someone that went through all 6 films in a relatively short time-span not so long ago, I can't personally say the dialogue was any better in the originals than it was in the prequels.

"I have a bad feeling about this"

Hehh...

The original SW movies had a few good quotes. Lot of them from Harrison Ford or Alec Guiness. But that's about it.

But yeah, overall, the dialogues in these movies were cringe worthy.

In fact, Lucas writes dialogues that are fit for robotic characters. So anytime a robotic figure is involved, the cringe factor goes down a bit.

Haven't watched last night's episodes of Ballers, True Detective and the Brink. I'll watch them to night and decide whether or not I keep watching Ballers. So far it hasn't been that good.

Nightcrawler - 8.8/10

Holy ****, is Gyllenhal ever creepy in that movie. It's so unsettling throughout the whole movie, even if you know what kind of guy he is. But he pulled that off perfectly. Definitely one of his best performance to date. Really solid movie with a very original storyline.

you will enjoy nightcrawler, one of my favorites movies. gyllenhaal is just sick in it.

watch enemy and prisoners too fi you haven't. Directed by denis villeneuve and starring gyllenhaal. both good movies

I watched Prisoners a while ago and it was pretty good. Haven't heard much about Enemy though, I'll definitely check it out soon, thanks.

Both those movies were great. I feel the exact same way about GOTG. Only difference is that I saw it before the hype and found it looked absolutely awful so my expectations were low. I pretty much went to see it since I'm a big Parks and Rec fan and Pratt is hilarious in that show. I had an absolute blast with it. Not that into the superhero thing right now either but it felt more like a buddy action comedy in space than the typical superhero fare. They only took like 5 minutes to get the origin out of the way which was very smart. Good acting. Legitimately funny and clever jokes. Great universe. Reminded me of a more modern star wars with more emphasis on comedy.

Nightcrawler is amazing too. Don't know anyone who did not like it.

I'm eager to see what they do with the second movie. As long as it doesn't take itself too seriously in the same way the first one did, I'm pretty sure it will be solid.

Enemy is a really a weird movie, but in a good way :D

It wasn't very well received by the critics and even the public to some extent.

Give it a try! Maybe you will enjoy it, I personally did.

Just saw the Superman vs Batman trailer. I won't totally knock it until I see the movie but ya seems like it will be cgi pornfest. Don't think Jesse Eisenberg was good casting for Lex Luthor, it just doesn't look right. Brian Cranston was made for that role!! And after that whole trailer I still can't get past Ben Affleck as Batman, there's something in my brain that just won't let it go.

Quick poll.

John Wick or Boondock Saints?

Both excellent genre films. I take the Saints every time.

I didn't care for boondock the first time but watched it again and liked it. John Wick was great though. Tough call but I'll take JW just for the gunfights. They were absolutely beautiful. Boondock is extremely funny though and Willem Dafoe is just too good in that film.

I'm pretty sure the cheesy dialogue in JW was intentional though. I liked it anyways. Gave a bit of comic relief like those awesome Arny 1 liners.

I completely agree with everything you said. Especially the Lex part. I don't know why but I cringe everytime Jesse Eisenberg is on screen. He almost ruined Zombieland for me. Thankfully Woody was there to make him slightly more tolerable.

Heisenberg on the other hand would make a perfect Lex. Basically just has to play the same character he does in Breaking Bad essentially.

I hope it turns out good though. I even thought Guardians of the Galaxy and MadMax were going to be terrible but they completely surprised me in a good way. Maybe this can do the same. Seems like a cash in though.

True Detective is terrible this season.

Vince Vaughn sucks.
The gay dude sucks.
The tough independent woman that need no man character played by Rachel McAdams sucks.
And the story sucks.

Ballers just looks like an Entourage football edition. I'm a bit disappointed by it.
Let's load up the shows with hot models, ass, boobs, luxurious cars, cash, parties, and a little story line.
Was fine for Entourage as it was a first, but I won't click much if it doesn't change.
They even put in the special boss character. It just feels way too much like Entourage for my liking thus far.

Disagree. I don't mind True Detective.
Not sure I get the gay story line though, seems pretty random and pointless.
As for the story, we still don't know much of anything, and there's only 4 episodes left, so I expect quite a bit to happen in the last 4 episodes.

Well it's always handy to have a point of reference. That way when I like a show/movie you know not to watch it lol. My intention was not to list my favorite or best shows, just the more obscure ones.

P.S. If you are looking for recommendations on something to watch then it would be helpful to mention shows that you've enjoyed and what you like about them That way people can narrow it down for you, other wise people will just be giving opinions on their favorite shows.

Here's my SideReel profile. It has all the shows I'm currently "tracking" (or watching) as well as all the shows that are finished, or are on my to-watch list.

As I look at it, one thing is immediately clear to me - I don't seem to like any kind of sci-fi (an exception to that would be "Humans" that I'm currently enjoying a great deal, but that is not your typical sci-fi show).

I'm also not into comedy much - I seem to be rather picky when it comes to this genre.

Drama, crime, thriller or politics is fair game however. :)

In total, my profile should have around 50 TV series, so that should give you a decent idea of my preferences. :)

Anyone watch Orphan Black? I've been hearing good things but never got around to it or even know what it's about.

Just watched the season finale of The last Alaskans. What a great documentary/human experience series. I'm very impressed by the harsh living conditions these people put up with. Minus 50 and the guy is out there working away. Living off the land at its finest.

Is there not 6 episodes left?

In Alaska, their -50 is warmer than our -30... there's humidity factors to take into consideration. You don't "feel" the cold as much, that's why the risk of frostbite is a real danger over there.

Last season was only 8 episodes, probably the same this year. Just finished episode 4, things are heating up all right, but it's nowhere near as compelling as last year's was. Still it's not bad, but more your average cop show.

Watched Red Obession, a documentary about the Bordeaux wines and China's love with them. Very interesting. Highly recommend

Anyone watched the Strain? The female lead is terrible but Vassily and Abraham are awesome. They should restart the show and just have those two fight the strain. Screw the CDC.

I saw that, they actually bath in that wine. :amazed:

They totally nail the china nouveau riche. I've seen ******* mix lafite with sprite. True story.

I don't know about bathe, but it's just rumors to make the product seem even more magical - and the wineries didn't start that, the Chinese are perfectly able I do that themselves. When they say that drinking lafite will whiten your skin and make it softer, they push further the idea that I'm better than you because I can afford it. White skin = high class. It's further class demarcation. It's complete ********* of course, but that's china. If Some rich d-bag starts eating Doritos and say it made you taller, it's cost a million bucks a bag because everybody would want one.

Meh, it's a work in progress, getting 'face' is important than anything. At the bar I work at, I've had a guy order a bottle of the most expensive single malt at the place, I pull out a Macallan 18 years, 3,000Â¥ (about 200$ back home). He had a sip, grinned and order a couple of cans of coke and proceeded to drink that amazing whiskey drowned in ****ing cola all night.

I'm perfectly happy drinking a few bottle of 15 dollars white Chilean. But I'm a foreigner, I can't have 'face', so I have that working for me

Chilean wine is fabulous.

It is. It is...

Still working on my wine palate though, I'm more of a single malt guy. Angel's envy, lagavulin or Blanton hits all my right spots. I realize I've just named two bourbons  Japanese single malts are good too

Shockingly, Chinese win taste like vinegar and Chinese whiskey like petrol

I'm baffled by the overwhelming financial success of Jurassic World, it's not very good.

I haven't seen Entourage so I can't relate. I watched episode 4 last night. I don't think I'll be watching the rest of the season. True Detective 4 wasn't too bad actually. I don't mind Vince Vaughn so far. It may have to do with the fact that I have only seen one or two other movies with him. I think I enjoy the Brink more than True Detective and definitely more than Ballers.
