Poked the bear!!!!!
Every character was a clichéd broken individual. Oh I'm a wild alcoholic detective! The wonderful thing about the first season was the absolutely incredible brooding and mysterious atmosphere it created and a complex character in Rust. That atmosphere was no where to be found in this episode. It's a completely different show now. Many people were hoping for a similar tone.
The acting, aside from Colin Farrell, was pretty atrocious. Vince Vaughn can't act for ****. The storyline was convoluted right off the bat.
I mean, I'll watch the season but this episode was a mess. Too much was crammed into it. The simplicity and minimalism of season 1 is gone.
The best part of the episode was Colin Farrell asking if the kids **** in his son's shoe.
Excellent. Shake off all the McConaughey fanboys once and for all. It's becoming increasingly obvious from people's attitudes towards S2 that they didn't really like True Detective anyway, they just liked The Rust Cohle Show.
