Recently, I liked "Chappie", "Projet Almanac" and "Astérix et la cité des Dieux"...Also like Jupiter but probably more because I have a crush on Mila Kunis.

On a longer basis, realy liked lnterstellar, Gone girl and the equalizer

pretty much this except for the equalizer. I thought it was horrible .

Terminator 5 (Genysis) comes to Australia this coming weekend. I wiol be seeing it a few days after that since I'm observing at the telescope (sort of) this weekend.

I am going to see it because the Terminator films were a huge part of my childhood. But I am not looking forward to it. I am going to walk out of that movie a survivor albeit a victimized one.

Terminator 4 (Salvation) was, I think, made by a low-talent director (McG) who gave it his best shot, his best effort, it just was not very good except for a couple things done well, it reminds me of Michael Bournival. In contrast, Genysis seems like it's made by a low-talent director (Alan Taylor) who has been non-stop stoned for the better part of two years.

But it is probably my last chance to see Arnold as the Terminator.

True Detective 2x02,

I don't want to spoil so I am going to discuss minor things.

- I liked the scene transition at the start between the two mold holes in the roof and the guy's dead eyes.
- Rachel McAdams continues to look phenomenal, in a completely different way than in Mean Girls. Her as's was sculpted by a great renaissance artist. Her lips are perfect. She has dimples. And her voice is like honey.
- I dig Colin Farrell's character, it is the type of character nobody could have written twenty or possibly even ten years ago, he is very contemporary, and simultaneously very traditional. It takes a high-quality writer to pull that off.

I do not think that any show has covered the corossive socioeconomics of the California construction boom. I like seeing new subjects. It is particularly pertinent with the events of the past fifteen years in the academic sector.

All in all though I am still having a hard time. There are a lot of characters and plot points and movong parts to keep track of. The dialogue is rich ... it is really high density, every word matters and the actors talk fast. The last time I was this lost was PTA'S Inherent Vice ... admittedly that was much worse.

I feel like I will need to watch this again, with subtitles.

I agree. Too many characters to follow. They should kill one of them off

So.... I have finally seen Mad Max.

It's got to be one of the most visually stunning movies I have seen in the last few years.
Can't wait to watch it a second time!

Flipped on subtitles at the start of last night's episode, #noragrets.

Great episode too. I am glad you said this:

I love that angle to this season, I think it's fascinating.

I watched Whiplash last night. Jesus was that ever a good movie. What a performance by JK Simmons, a force of nature. Miles Teller also delivered a hell of a performance, I've been a fan of the guys since The Spectacular Now. There's something about Teller that makes it very easy to root for him. Maybe cause he looks so harmless and sincere (the splitting image of a young John Cusack).

One critic referred to it as "Full Metal Julliard." If you haven't seen the film yet, I definitely suggest you check it out.

Probably the best movie I've seen since The Dark Night, maybe cause I didn't expect much going in cause I've been let down by all the must-sees especially this year but haven't made it to Mad Max yet

The rumour is that they want the whiplash director to make the next Batman solo movie.

Wait... Whiplash is the best film you've seen since TDK?

Do you watch like one movie a year?

I wonder if you actually don't realize that TDK is one of the most widely beloved movies of the 21st century.

Maybe I misread you but that is how you sounded?

People were do flabbergasted that it didn't get a best picture nomination that the academy changed the rules the following year.

People get a massive hard-on for that movie, but it's nothing more than an exposition filled decent action film by one of the most overrated directors of this century. Some lazy writing in that entire trilogy.

Don't get me wrong, it's a good action film, but nothing more than that.

Just since 2008, there have been far better films than Whiplash, which is a decent indie film that is mainly a lesson in montage.

WhiskeySeven has consumed my quota of Nolan debates, so I will leave it at: you kind sir are underrating TDK.

Prediction: When the bubble burts TDK will be the only comic movie in the BFI Top 200 films list.

I was sweating watching Whiplash. Enjoyed the heck out of that film.

So Nurse Jackie ended up being a pretty good series, the finale was great, especially the final few minutes.

The finale was pretty good. I found the last season pretty rocky but it ended well enough. A little unsatisfying but there was no way they were going to wrap up all the plot points from the entire last season in 30 minutes. IMO the series should have been about 2 seasons shorter.
