Play Bunting on McDavid's wing and I bet he has a couple more tap ins as well. Why are we acting like we don't know what Hyman would do on the Leafs? Your point is disingenuous BS. Hyman is what Hyman has always been around a 60 point player who is now riding shotgun with the best player we have seen in the last couple decades. If Hyman was on the Leafs he would be doing pretty much exactly what he did for the Leafs in previous years. Which by the way...we still didn't win with him.Quality vs Quantity !!!
Question: How many new players does it take to replace Zach Hyman for his cap hit to match his offense?
Zach Hyman (@$5.5 mil AAV) ........... 10 games ... 7 goals 3 assists 10 points.
His replacements
Michael Bunting (@ $950,000) ...... 11 games 3 goals 3 assists 6 points
Ondrej Kase (@ $1,250,000) .............. 11 games 1 goal 1 assist 2 points
Nick Ritchie (@ $2,500,000) ............. 11 games 0 goals 1 assists 1 point
David Kämpf (@ $1,500,000) ........... 11 games 1 goal 0 assists 1 point
Totals ........ [@ $6.2 mil AAV] ............ 44 games 5 goals 5 assists 10 points
Answer: It takes 4 players with a little more cap hit, and 44 man games to match Hyman in an attempt to replace him.
FWIW: After 10 games Hyman would be leading the Leafs in goals and points based on his current stats.
I don't think he's trolling.Seriously, why is the Leafs board Global Moderator one of the biggest trolls out here. I mean it’s generally polite and under handed trolling but it’s still clear trolling.
And we all know what the b stands for in yours.Mess is far more than just his online screen name......
The problem started long before Hyman.Leaf fans: we have 4 players making 50% of the cap so we can’t afford good roster depth to support them
Also Leaf fans: we shouldn’t have let Hyman go because these depth players we used that cap space on have not played as wel

It was Tavares that upset the internal structure. The 2C should be 7M max, not 11. The ripple effect has been predictable ever since.
Good on Zach. From 5th wheel here to leading the charge in Edmonton.Quality vs Quantity !!!

I think in a backhanded way that's a compliment to the Leafs.
Always liked Barrie but he was terrible here.Let's not forget Tyson Barrie...dude is playing well for Oil.
Is Tavares was anywhere close to Malkin, it’s probably not a discussion. Malkin is a top 3-5 player of this generation. Tavares isn’t even on the radar.Stupid Pittsburgh, signing Malkin for so much.
Tampa will have no success with so much tied up down the middle.
Glad Edmonton is finally playing Draisaitl on the wing, it is insane to have him as 2C since he is over 7 mil.

Tampa pays their top 4 less money. A group that includes the best goalie, best d man, best winger and top 10 Selke calibre centre. The issue is balance… if you can’t see the difference in their balance vs the Leafs, I can’t help you. Value for dollars is in a different stratosphere.
Same with Marner,Hyman got his money and I’m happy for him, but whether he earns it or not is of no concern of ours.
It has everything to do with it. It’s about value more than the money. I threw out a number relative to the cap ceiling. You’re focused on the numbers and missing the principle.Okay, so it had nothing to do with the original argument about the cap hit being too high for a 2C.
No one needs to play ‘devils advocate’ when half of the posts on the board all already full of the same negativity and hot takes.I don't think he's trolling.
Isn't part of a Mod's job to create conversation?
A lot of flaws in this argument
First, we wouldnt have Hyman stapled to McDavid here, who if you havent looked has over 20 points in 10 games. Hyman likely has a pretty decent drop in offence playing here especially with our big boys struggling early.
And then Kampf for example has never been an offensive guy but is a great role player and has been playing his role at as well of a level as you could expect.
You also fail to fill the rest of the roster with league minimum players so the actual Hyman cap hit + 3 league minimum players is closer to 8 mill

Hymen has not been stapled to mcdavid. He's played a ton of time with nuge. Basically the oilers are constantly junbling their top 6. Tippett likes to put mcdavid and Draisaitl together when we have last change.
I dont even remember who Hyman isIMO, threads about ex players seems a little bit 'bunny boiler'ish.
Why pine for those that are gone?
