But odds are Karlsson isn't scoring 100 points again, his on-ice value will never be higher than it is now.
Yet the value isn’t going to be very high because there are only a couple of teams trying to acquire him. If Pittsburgh was a major possibility, the ask can’t be very high. They have one of the worst farms.

As far as I recall, it's been pretty widely reported he had a 15 team clause that kicked in July 1. I was listening to the Ray and Dregs podcast this morning and I believe Dreger said SJ was a team he'd have to waive to go to, for additional context.
point of clarification (after the trade problem a few years ago), the NMC gets updated each year, varies by contract and can be set only once, etc.?

~41 mins in Johnston links CAR to Tarasenko, but talks in the past tense

Also some stuff about Karlsson right before the Tarasenko bit ~38Mins in. Nothing really new, “now or never” type wording for the Sharks dealing him.

Guy I work with is a Canes fan, not hard core but goes to a few games.. his brother is a hard core fan with season tickets. His brother said he will be shocked if the Canes sign Tarasenko due to the asking price.

If Toronto and Pitt are out and Seattle doesn’t wanna pay the price then it’s basically Carolina. Also karlsson may not even waive to go to Seattle which could just eliminate them altogether

Honestly, Seattle would be a good fit if Ronnie wants to pull of a big trade....

....hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Had to be said.

Yeah, if it's down to just Carolina and Seattle, I think Karlsson would clearly prefer waiving to Carolina.

In addition to being an annual cup contender for several years now, it also helps that we have one of his former teammates with Burns. Who gives a shit about what Frank thinks with "the fit." Karlsson would work well for us, and our front office will make the appropriate trade(s) afterwards on the blue line.

Not to mention North Carolina weather>>> Seattle weather.

For sure you know burns has already called Karlsson and talked the team and city up

Shocking that Seravalli likes the fit of a player somewhere other than Carolina.

At the end of the day, Karlsson wants to win a Cup, and he has a much better chance of doing that here than Seattle

But the weather right now doesn’t really matter. A lot of players go back “home” during the summer months.
I guess if we’re going to debate something as subjective as climate preferences I should have made a more clear statement.

I’ve got a sister that’s lived in Seattle for almost 10 years. I’ve personally been to Seattle a total of 15 times in my adult life, covering all seasons. Never once did I remotely miss the Piedmont area of NC due to weather.

If he's talking in terms of what assets they'd be willing to give up Seattle probably is a better fit. We'll still have a majorly overloaded defense either way even without EK.

I just spent 2 weeks in Seattle and I’ll take their weather 10/10 vs the absolute swamp ass that is NC right now.
Well…it’s always about timing (this week a bad barometer): I spent a year there in the mid 70’s and from October to may it was a cloudy rainy and cold depressing mess.

He probably would be in NC during hockey season and that’s much better than Seattle.
