Thats his price for TO, wonder what his price for us would be
They won’t go over whatever number aho signs for so it’s pretty easy under 9.5. They’ll find out pretty quick if leafs give access to teams to talk to the player and agent

Guy I work with is a Canes fan, not hard core but goes to a few games.. his brother is a hard core fan with season tickets. His brother said he will be shocked if the Canes sign Tarasenko due to the asking price.

He can ask for the moon, but the market is the market. The top few forwards (Bertuzzi and Bunting, you could also argue Duchene I guess) have signed at $4.5-5.5M for 3 yrs or less. If the Canes still have an offer on the table, I imagine it’s in that ballpark for 1yr.

Something to consider with Nylander is that he likely forces Necas out after the season. Unless you’re a believer in the Toronto approach, they’re redundant. Nylander may be the better player moving forward (does Necas have another step?), but he’ll be more expensive too. To me, that makes him kind of meh outside of a rental scenario.

This.

They often leave and escape the North Carolina humidity during the summer.

Beats all of the rain Seattle typically gets.
Plot twist: average rainfall in Raleigh (and NC in general) is higher than Seattle, and significantly so since about 2018. I know where I am in Winston Salem we had about 4 months straight this past winter we never went more than 3 days without rain

If he's talking in terms of what assets they'd be willing to give up Seattle probably is a better fit. We'll still have a majorly overloaded defense either way even without EK.
I was also wondering what he meant by "fit." Yes, if he meant assets, he's likely correct. If he means system, he hasn't done his homework. Then again, he dies his hair gray to make himself look more credible so his analysis is also very superficial.

The brother I spoke of follows this stuff way more than I do and said Tarasenko wanted a 3 year deal. Not claiming he has inside info just passing along what he was claiming was the issue with the Canes signing him.

Based on the Bertuzzi saga, the market clearly seems too soft on Tarasenko for a 1 year deal to not be the outcome. I would expect that the Canes can wait it out, make their defensive moves, and see if Tarasenko's still around. I'm starting to see Vancouver as increasingly the best Pesce suitor. If their ownership wants to make the playoffs, that 1RD spot next to Hughes is a glaring flaw.

Friedman reported that the Canes offered Tarasenko a short term term, so I wouldn't be surprised at all if term is a sticking point. However, if Tarasenko truly wants to play for a contender this coming season, there really aren't many options outside of the Canes, so I guess they have that going for them.

Adding Tarasenko would be great, but not a make or break thing.

Yeah, back before the official Canes site got shut down we had a regular who was also know for his really long posts. Don't know if the "doc" in your user name refers to you being an MD, but he actually was and headed up a nearby hospital emergency department. Between those two things I sent you a pm seeing if you were the same guy. Might have been right around one of the migrations and got lost; I don't have it in my pm list, either.

Apologies for missing the PM... I'm not an MD. It's a play on the name of one of my past businesses... all the best...

Freidman just said on his last 32 thoughts podcast that just dropped that Seattle tried on karlsson and he says they are out says it’s harder for Pitt to make it work because of salary cap but basically it’s down to Pitt and Carolina says sharks will have to eat close to 40 percent likely. Also says pesce and canes weren’t close on a contract offer at the draft but says he’s got a 15 team trade list which may impact where he can go

Nothing new, Canes and Pens still in on Karlsson. If the Sharks are willing to retain 40% he’s very likely dealt. Sounds like Pesce would be part of return, he might be able to block such a trade. Seattle out on Karlsson. If
I heard correctly, the Friedman seemed to imply that Grier might like what the Pens are offering better. Will be a very complex deal if it goes through.

No I don’t think he said he likes what the pens are offering more from what I heard

If Pesce is part of the deal and Grier likes whatever PIT is offering more, just stop talking deals with the guy.

Pittsburgh has nothing realistically available that’s as good as Pesce lol.
He said he’s not sure pesce would have them on his list or not he might have to waive to go there and doubtful he would unless he gets told they were flipping him my guess

Yeah, watch Grier f*** us over again with an all-star tier player they're offering, and trade him to another team (seemingly the only other option is Pittsburgh).

However, Karlsson, unlike Meier, has a NMC.

So, again, one would think playing for today's Carolina team (an annual cup contender and with his former teammate Burns), versus a Pittsburgh team that didn't even make the playoffs last season with old star players at the end of their career, I know which team sounds objectively more appealing from a player perspective with trying to win the cup.

Plus our blueline's high talent and our system have to be very appealing to Karlsson. He'd thrive here.
