I know it was reported before that Necas/Jarvis deals are unlikely until after next season but I'd really love to lock one of them up, ideally Jarvis before he likely increases his production and value next year. Also still waiting on that Aho extension

EK @ 50% is the elite Winger we need...but we still need a guy who can pot more than 25 goals...

acquiring Karlsson puts in the cat bird seats for trades because we have 6 top 4 defenders now. although we would need to clear both to get under the cap with Karlsson added.

I'm way more comfortable with Karlsson with the Orlov signing. Orlov is MUCH more sound defensively than Skjei is, meaning that Burns will still have free reign on the second pair. Slavin-Karlsson has the potential to be one of the more mind-bending pairings the league has seen in years.
I truly think Burns is a considerably better all around defenseman than EK at this point, despite EK's Norris season last year. Orlov-Burns would be an absolutely absurd 2nd pairing but I don't think Slavin with EK would be better than Slavin and Burns were last year.

Yea we'll get bent over a barrel if we don't clear room first, otherwise we'll be the ones trade Pesce for Future Considerations

I’m torn on the early results. I love Orlov and think it’s a great move. I wanted healthy goalies, so I’m concerned about them coming back with the same but I’m guessing improvements would’ve costed too much so we’re going to roll the dice.

Pretty much a meh burger on Bunting, but I need to let it sink in for a bit. If you gave me the choice of Marchment vs Bunting I’m taking Marchment all day so I don’t see that as a great turn at that spot. I think Bunting may be a decent Nino replacement, but when we had Nino we still needed to add a forward it felt like.

Too early. We clearly have more moves coming after Orlov got signed. There’s likely another forward coming, though maybe not immediately.

IMO We need to trade either Skjei or Pesce before we complete a EK trade, reasoning is other teams will see we are Defense heavy and the price goes down.

I’m here right now. I don’t think we can judge without the full picture though.

It really, really, weirdly feels like the team is going to try to get Karlsson and then trade the entire 2nd pairing from last year. Assets from that trade can be used to get the final forward piece?

I’m sure it won’t go exactly according to plan that neatly, but that seems to be the direction based on the rumors…

Bluesky can't come fast enough.

I imagine the Canes are bummed given how they optimize days like today.
Not to get too tin-foily, but a non-zero chance the Aho extension is in the hopper and they pause on announcing it until Twitter gets a bit more functional again.

Of course, it's more likely they're just busy with the other moves today, but wouldn't shock me if it's still a factor.
