I’m here right now. I don’t think we can judge without the full picture though.

It really, really, weirdly feels like the team is going to try to get Karlsson and then trade the entire 2nd pairing from last year. Assets from that trade can be used to get the final forward piece?

I’m sure it won’t go exactly according to plan that neatly, but that seems to be the direction based on the rumors…
I’ve always thought we’d be in on Karlsson. It’s an “us” move if we get the retention where it needs to be. He would change the pp and make all the forwards more dangerous.

Reported on NHL Network that we have offered Tarasenko a short term deal (but Bunting/Orlov deals and still being in on EK not sure if that offer is still on the table), also mentioned Florida as a possibility for him. I'd love to add Tank for the PP and a true sniper.

i would also imagine we will tell every team that Svech will start the season on LTIR (if need be) so we wont be taken to the shed on trades.

Making a huge change to the defense when that (well, that and the Devils having AHL goalies) got the team to the conference finals this year and has been the cornerstone of their success the past half decade is....well, if nothing else, interesting.

Because the Canes try to stay as flexible as they can from a cap perspective. I don't think anything's going to change all that much from a defensive perspective. It'll just mean that Orlov is going to play the Pesce role rather than him, it feels like.

Every time we've been mentioned for Karlsson I would have that nagging voice about Burns and Karlsson having not worked together. But it's my deep, dark secret that I really just want to say screw it and see the chaos of adding him to this team.

The reason Karlsson and Burns didn't work the first time was because San Jose's left side was a complete dumpster fire. My one concern was about Skjei's style of play maybe not being a great fit with Burns, but now with Orlov, there's enough defensive stability to effectively maximize the two's skillset at 5-on-5.
