The ship has sailed. Laviolette isn't changing what this core already is. They need new players.
All I know is they rooted out the org structure down to the trainer and some no name skills coach the messageboard had an aneurysm over (im sorry for their behavior Mark Chicago or whatever the f*** your name was), and it's the same problems it ever was.

Except now Panarin's not magically getting 2g 1a in the 3rd to pull it out. It's joever.

Yeah I don't know how dreaded middle is anyones first thought when they just got their asses kicked by the Blackhawks in a game where Igor was GOOD.
Because you know they're just not gonna let it get to the point where the team needs to rebuild. As long as Mika & Igor are here, they're going to do what they always do & retool on the fly and pretend this team has a shot to compete.

Seravelli mentioned we'll have $27M in deadline space & you just know there is zero chance Drury sits on his hands. Dolan could give a shit if we finish 1st overall or in the 1st wild card slot as long as there's playoff revenue involved.

I don't think that anything that has happened this year really screams "hey, they're going to be in a position to go for it!"

I've seen teams unravel before and thats what this one is doing and it's being spearheaded by the guys eating the most minutes. Unless that changes, this team isn't going to be in a position to even sneak in. It really doesn't matter what Dolan wants.

It’s pretty late but does anyone have access to those game “report cards”? (players ranked by stacked bar graphs)
Just wondering if it would match both the eye test and NatStatTrick possession stats, whereby the Zib 3-some and KAM were all at a team-worst 30%.
I’d fully expect all 4 of these bums to be at the bottom of the card, with their bars being like 80 to 90% skewed to the left (I.e., stinky bad).
Thanks in advance.

I haven't commented much the past couple of years because I've been saying that the core of this team is rotten. They just aren't playoff-type winning players. Hell, we may be at the point that they aren't even a playoff team.

Whether people still like Mika, Kreider, Panarin, etc for some reason, I hope we can all agree that this is not entertaining at all.

I hope we trade at the deadline instead of wasting assets again for a team that isn't going to win a series unless Shesterkin steals it.

For the love of god, at least bench Mika (and his partner in crime). Better chance that he waives his NTC than he puts in the effort to play well. His heart has flat-lined and he's a liability out there. I rather see 4th line plugs than these heartless bums. Sell Mortimer, sell.

it's crazy, there's zero accountability. It's nuts. There's no one sane in the organization that sees Mika as a problem let alone a cancer.
theres a severe accountability issue but it stems from inept talent evaluation, not a lack of willingness to make tough choices. They literally just can’t figure out who sucks so naturally ice time and lineup spots arent ever going to be distributed properly. I’m tired of people acting like NYR coaches know who is bad but just don’t have the hardass coach with the balls to demote them. Theyve never tried hiring a coach who would look past Mika or Lindgrens reputations and see them for the shitty players they are. These old guys don’t see the game. They’re obsessed with veterans and just go by whatever they’ve heard about these players. All the retreads get absurdly horny at the idea of a vehtrin 2 way 1C and that’s what Laviolettes heard about Mika forever so it’s never gonna change

When i played sports, what motivated me was the fear of being the guy that cost the team by fumbling or turning the puck over or whatever. Look at the 2 goals against. Mika turns it over, casually floats to the slot, stares at the guy who stole the puck while the guy a foot behind him scores. Miller skating toward our net in the offensive circle, loses the puck. He's a defenseman. He has to know this could be a disaster in a 1-1game. What does he do? He too, turns and stares at the guy who stole the puck. One pass, he's burnt and its a goal. In all the years i have been watching this team, the loudest i used to yell at Sam was when he says great play by so and so, and i scream at him; of course he made a great play, he had to. He just passed the puck to the guy. Haven't yelled that this year. Nobody cares if there the one that causes the goal against.

Lavi's comments are pretty telling (as were Gallant's before him). There hasn't been a genuine leader in that lockerroom for years, save maybe for Goodrow.

Cuylle looks like he could be that guy, but it's optimistic bordering on manic to think that he can single-handedly wrangle a bunch of content veterans around him.

I'm ready to burn the whole thing to the ground. Truthfully, I've been ready for a couple years; we should have given the team over to the kids so f***ing long ago, and now it's starting to approach too late.

People keep questioning why Zibs and or Krieder aren't demoted or benched, it's because once they do that they will have officially thrown in the towel on those two. What are the chances one or both respond by picking up their games? Not happening, play them until your done with them.
Also Lav stepped into some shit huh?

Would like to see Mika, Kreider and Trochek replaced on PP1 with Laf, Cuylle and Berard. Season is over so might as well develop the young player's offensive skills

Kreider is injured, and while he has always been a little frustrating with perceived effort he always made up for it in points, he gets a pass for me as i believe hes doing what he can physically right now. Mika has been 💩 since a year and seemingly did nothing about it in the offseason, I mean how at the very least has his shot not returned to form, that's an easy fix in the offseason. The guy had one of the best one timers in the league and now I question if it's gonna hit the boards let alone the net.

The good times are coming to an end for real. This team had unsustainable things work out for them for a long time and they can't be sustained anymore.

Well......the struggle is real . We are a soft and slow club and don't want to do any grunt work to make plays out of nothing . Our talent is playing below par.....I think Lavi will be gone soon enough and maybe Drury with him and they bring in coach Q and last but not least.....Messier as the acting GM and they likely hire a cap specialist to assist him .

He's been my favorite player for a long time but if Krieder is injured for God's sake step out and get healthy.
