Kreider is not despised gimme a break. Maybe here people are getting tired of him (myself included) but I dont hate him. Ill be at his number retirement I can promise you that. If he does get traded, wait for the reaction on social media then tell me he's despised by Ranger fans. It's pragmatic to look into trading a 34 year old with 2.5 years left, and ton of playoff success and experience. If you can add 2-3 long term difference making pieces in a bidding war, it's a no brainer for a team tracking to be an 8 seed at best right now.

Agreed, I love Kreider and still want him traded. He's been a great Ranger, probably even the best Ranger during his tenure other than Hank, but he's not what this team needs anymore.

Unfortunately the culture this roster created was one of relying on the goalie and special teams to bail out lackadaisaical efforts 5v5.

Again, it's possible that you can sign Panarin and stash him for the 7 year deal and then keep making moves for the future.

In retrospect he's symbolic of their unwillingness to do that. They signed him and then thought, hey, we have to win RIGHT NOW!!

Not sure why. A 7 year contract with a Hall of Fame player buys you time.

They were unwilling to do so and here we are. They purchased themselves 2 conference finals appearances. Hurray.

Anybody paying attention (and not blinded by homerism) saw that this team wasn't good enough to go further. It's never, ever have enough forward talent in the pipeline, that's always been blatantly clear. And they were getting close on D but a lot of that went belly up as well.

This team might never do it the "right way" as long as he's the owner. Fantasizing about building through the draft, trading ass-in-the-seat superstars for draft picks, etc... is just that. Fantasy.

Coaches don't matter in terms of getting results when the team is contending. "Systems" are mostly homogenous and the coach is not magically fixing the roster.

I would like to retool the roster, and when a new core is developing, I think it's important who's in charge. I know you think players are entirely autonomous and development doesn't exist, but players react to reward stimuli, because of course they do.

Zibanejad sucks entirely because Zibanejad sucks. There being absolutely no accountability for that for several years is a decision other people made.

I’ve tried explaining the difference between a good teacher and a bad teacher to chosen and how having a good teacher makes all the difference in the world between understanding a subject, enjoying a subject and not. There’s no point trying to convince him that balloon boy David Quinn was a bad choice then and an even worse choice now in hindsight.

That locker room had no respect for quinn, and when a teaching moment came, it was self preservation with no regard to equal accountability for vets and younger players alike.

Playoffs are overrated. We literally decide to go with a much smaller sample size to determine a champion and the quality of the competitors.
