Yessir. Dubas fans have blamed Lou, Babcock, the fans, Keefe, Marner and the refs. They're getting closer to the problem, but not quite there yet.

If he leaves with nothing to show for it he will for sure get bunched in with Lou, Babcock etc....other guys who came here and didn't do anything to really care about them leaving.

There's only a very small amount of actual Dubas homers. Everyone else is just calm and talk through things logically. For some reason that irritates people who don't like Dubas.

Near the end of regulation,we had 70 shot attempts, and 35 shots (50%). Chicago had 39 attempts and 27 shots (69%). Whether our shots are getting blocked or we're just missing the net, that's not a good comparison.

Campbell was very good, and the biggest reason we won. I thought Marner had his best game.

I think the biggest problem with our top PP is no net presence. Tavares doesn't screen the goalie at all, but stands to the side, waiting for a tip or rebound. We pass around the outside a lot because the goalie can always track the puck, and is always in position.

Yeah except which part of your awesome story is reality? Because 17 years of no series win, and 54 years of not even a CUP final is what makes fans toxic. Leafs BARELY and Luckily win an absolutely atrocious game against an absolutely abysmal club and organization and it's time to celebrate. wtf Maybe if we expect better and show them that we expect better they might actually get better instead of yearly participation medals in April.

what a toxic post! Why are you even here.? It is posts like yours that will cause the Matthew’s and such to pack up their bags. We should be cheering our boys, they are broken and if there was ever a time they needed a cheer…. Did you not see their joy and relief after Nylander scored? How can anyone think they don’t care .
If you want to rag, then rag on management (for keeping Kerfoot over McCan, for giving up a first for Foligno, for letting Hyman go-their heart and soul, for losing Kapanan, the list goes on, for the Kadri deal….)

It is attitudes like your that let the team continue to suck. If more fans were pissed off they might actually make some changes - fire Spreadsheet, fire Keefe, make a trade, or whatever.
I don't really think the Leafs are going to make any changes based on some angry "fans" on an internet forum. But if you think that may help... continue on.

With Patrick Kane, Chicago beats us in regulation, no doubt about it.
Before tonight, we had only won without Matthews. Hockey is a funny game, but such definitive statements like this are wrong imo.

Most of you saw that graphic on TV - 1st in slot chances, shots, shot attempts blah blah blah, point is, you all need to relax, as we WILL regress to the mean, and if you don’t understand regression analysis - it means the goal slumps won’t last with that many chances, especially not with the talent we host. I love you guys, i’ve been on HF for a long time, but a lot of you need to CHILL. It gets frustrating when we outshoot teams by 10+ shots and a lot of you are willing to knife the core. Chicago is a team with issues at their core (Toews past prime, Jones salary, dependence on Kane, and now the abuse issue), we are in a team in an early season slump. Theres massive difference

The fact several sports personalities have recently spoken up about the toxicity of this fan base shows your wrong. Of the people willing to speak about the game the majority is toxic is probably a better way of putting it. But the things this fan base says about its players can be disgusting.

Enjoy the win. Stop whining and being negative

You are toxic yourself

Oh so fans can't complain about a team severely underachieving and playing with no heart? Should we just eat it up and wait for more like some idiots do?
Give it a rest. down 2-0 99%of this board was counting down to the 10,000 Fire Keefe/Dubas/all the above thread including myself, hell I bet on Chicago as a Prove Me Wrong Toronto bet, they battled back and got the Dub and I'm out $50 I'll take this win and move on to the next game.

Hopefully you and the rest of the Complaint Club take a hint

Is Tavares so much of a scrub here now that his backhand snipe is getting no hype? That's easily the best backhand goal of the year for the league so far. The reaction is the same as if it bounced off his ass into the net.

There's no more dangerous player in the slot with the puck.

The issue with Tavares is opportunities.

It takes a lot of hard work from himself and his linemates to find those and they seem to be happening less and less.

Debatable whether it's him or his linemates IMO.

I thought JT played pretty well tbh. He hit another post as well didn't he?

I think Marner was pretty good as well, and it definitely woke up that line a bit. I thought they were better overall than the Matthews line.

i'm happy we won. i'll always be happy when the leafs win.

i don't think this was a great effort or the big guys showing up, tho. it was a gullible first period against the worst franchise who hasn't even lead in a game this season - and this very franchise led 2-0 tonight, and had two big chances to win the game in ot. it's exactly what was to be expected; another bad game, but since chicago is an absolute mess the buds somehow manage to squeeze out a meh win. will be the same against the red wings.

i'm not willing to praise anybody for tonights win. these two points and the way they were secured are the bare minimum if you want to qualify as a hockey team at all.

What in the hell are you even going on about. Nobody gets a pass, players, management or owners. Matthews, Marner and Tavares are not absolved in the creation of the situation. It's up to management to agree and sign deals, but players/agents are only out for one thing and that means knowing full well screwing over their teammates with contracts. NOBODY gets a pass there because its the business.

Matthews does not read hockey forums, and if he does read hockey forums and makes his career and life decisions based on what I or others here say then he has much much greater problems to deal with. 40 years with this team and thousands of dollars, thousands of hours and constant support. I have every right to be angry to whatever level I want. I also want them to win at such an incredible level with the top smallest percentage of lifers around here. I'm sick of seeing the same thing over and over and over and then nothing being done and blind optimism. These are men, making MILLIONS of dollars to produce and this is the 6th year of not producing. They should not be "broken" at any level even if it is a slump that turns out to be an anomaly this year. History with these guys show it is not an anomaly though especially when they reach the playoffs. They can go on a 30 game win streak right now and sure I'll be excited to see that but guess what, doesnt matter until the playoffs come.

Run along now.

Hot take but maybe employing a traditional 3F - 2D power play from time to time is the way to go? Rielly, Sandin, Muzzin, and Liljegren comprise a nice assortment of puck distributors and shooters. Including Ritchie, and Simmonds as opposed to Tavares as a net front lets them absorb (and deal) punishment, while guys like Matthews and Marner have skills tailor-made for quick bang-bang plays. As it stands, the first unit power play focuses too much on getting Matthews the puck, much to the overall unit's detriment.

I only watched the condensed game (9 min). Takeaways:
+ Leafs won
+ nice goals by Tavares and Kämpf
- far too many defensive lapses (Rielly, Muzzin, Holl) and high danger chances for CHI
--- Holl
