Matthews sneakily getting in between shifts and carrying us appears to work.

Let's get crazy next game:

Knies-Matthews-Robertson (Operation: Hide Matthews)
Bertuzzi-Domi-Marner (Operation: Feed Bert)
McMann-Tavares-Nylander (Operation: Willy Carry)
Holmberg-Kampf-Jarnkrok (Maybe An Actual Shutdown Line)

Rielly-Liljegren
Benoit-McCabe
Lagesson-Brodie (Operation: Rest Brodes)
Giordano

Jones
Samsonov
(Please Come Back Soon Woll)

If he scored there, he would have been called selfish for shooting at two empty nets.
He was called selfish even though as MJ said the percentages say go for it and Jarnkrok was there first, which is what he anticipated knowing him. Was a weird icing call. Anyways, really liked his game tonight, won a lot of pucks and controllled play. Good on PK as well. Played 23 minutes.

Some guy on Kypers show had some stats for the core four against teams like Calgary and they feast on those teams.
I didn't see the show, but I'm assuming it's this fella, who in his article says,
"• Toronto's most recent effort, a regulation time loss in Edmonton, could be described as the best version of their group. They competed extremely hard as a team, but ultimately ran out of gas and broke down at the most important time of the game – protecting a lead in the third period on the road against a top flight opponent.

• Sacrificing further draft capital, or prospects, from an already thin pool feels like a reach at this stage. This is a good team, not a great team.

I recommend standing pat with what they have and regrouping in the off-season, when bigger choices need to be made on free agents, major contract extensions and the makeup of the whole group. The organization doesn’t have the draft capital, or prospect depth, to spend on acquisitions at this trade deadline. It feels like they have more than one hole to plug and not enough putty to stop the leaks. They can use their pending UFAs as “own rentals” to accomplish the goal of being a playoff team and seeing where it takes them."

Credit when deserved. Keefe coached very well the few mins.

I mean… it’s Calgary. Compared to the Edmonton game where they also allowed 3 goals (with a goalie) but held some big guns to very little production, the difference is they for more scoring.

Does anyone have a clip of the bear hug followed by full Nelson getting out of the zone that led directly to a Calgary goal?

How in the world is that not called?

Thank you Matty, Jones, and video crew. Still missing in action, scoring from anyone not named Matthews and Marner..Marner should have had a hat trick with the chances he had. Liljgren, Bertuzzi, and Brodie with poor games.

Keefe made reference to the fact he doesn't know who can get the job done to close out a game. I think he was being kind and not calling anyone out.

Good on him. However, with so few players he feels he can trust, that is a major red flag. I am surprised Bertuzzi got some ice time there... Nylander can be trusted because he is hard/heavy on the puck or at least can be. The rest who were on the ice are no-brainers.

I cannot disagree that the rest are hit and miss. Soft plays, flubs, missed assignments are all too frequent. And some guys you don't expect to be out there right now regardless, like Knies & Holmberg; in saying that I feel both have the potential to be trustworthy in those situations.

Bertuzzi just doesn't seem like a fit, for whatever reason. Team style I think... which is really unfortunate because he is the type of player we desperately need...
