I think Domi was given the 2nd line center for payback for having a couple of strong games lately but he's not top 6 material on this team IMO. Would be surprised if he isnt back to the third line next game and Tavares back in as one of the more effective 2nd lines in hockey this year.

Oh yes yes, no problem with that. It's a nice bonus for Domi and his recent play, effort and passion. There have just some grandiose statements about Domi. Very small sample size and against the Ducks no less is not something to bank on imo.

Agree with you. Barring a trade that brings in a 2C, JT is it I think.

McMann channeled his inner Hyman effort on that empty netter. Love his tenacity lately. The offensive breakout has really rejuvenated his legs and confidence out there.

Like him in the top 6 .. might suit Tavares and Nylander well since he could that line more speed compared to Bert and improve forechecking

Also, Knies is going to be an absolute monster in 3 years. Such a skilled goal today and he plays a heavy, hardworking game.

I think the issue is that Domi really can't be the third line centre in the playoffs, either. He's just not defensively responsible enough.

Last year 32-14-8
This year 30-16-8

For all the doom and gloom we've seen this year, only 4 points worse than at this point last year isn't bad at all.

I said it a while back, last season was masked by that streak we had in Nov and Dec, when Murray and Sammy were both on fire. Then there were huge drop off or Dubas would not trade to replace 1/3 of the roster. We just seemed to forget what happened due to how they finished

This team is better than last season's team in most ways. All they need is a couple of defensively responsible additions.
