Post-Game Talk: Leafs win in SO after giving up another two goal lead

Cmon. This has become your main narrative as a poster. Goaltending this and goaltending that, to the point where it gets the #1 blame/issue from you in a game where it was the least of the team's worries.

Woll has even managed a .914 sv% or better his last 4 games played with your "the goalie must give us .900 or better every game" mandate.

Pretty sure We had this conversation and I think it was you that I told I feel like goaltending is the most important position in hockey so yes I am highly critical of the goaltending position.

Woll was good tonight but that does nothing to debunk the fact that they need 4 or more on most nights to win.

They have to rely on their offense WAY to much that's a fact and you know it.

The randomness of OT and the shootout is quite a thing. The Leafs used to have poor OT and shootout records, and now they are damn near a guarantee in extra time or the shootout. No rhyme or reason to it. I despise 3 on 3 and the shootout, no matter how many points the Leafs take from it.
Sure there’s a reason, Woll.

The only D that would make a significant positive change to the team is a 100% healthy Klingberg and that has 0 odds of happening.

I don't have any desire to get the injured D back. Big whoop.

Hard to pin defensive issues on Keefe. Past regimes hung us out to dry and lead us to this point. Everyone should be a Burke fan for saving our ass with Rielly.

Treliving needs to hit the phones and figure something out. There's no major help coming in-house. We need to dump Brodies cap hit ASAP
Once again, I don't blame him for the D being a bit out of sorts right now, considering the unit is in shambles. I DO blame him for the fact that teams have a really easy time penetrating and no one seems to know what to do to prevent the other team from setting up and generating scoring chances. Between forwards blowing the zone early, players skating into No Man's Land, guys letting the puck go past them, not doing anything to stop guys in the corners on a regular basis... It's clear that if they don't have the puck, the team has no structure. And that a coaching problem.

This is the year leafs play ass in reg season at times and annoy us endlessly making us lose all hope

...only to go and redeem themselves in the playoffs

Go leafs go

2018 capitals season coming

Two heart breaks in 2016 and 2017 as a top team(they won president trophy both years), 2018 they were pretty medicore at tines in the reg season before getting hot at right time

I'd fire him now. Though the defensive injuries aren't his fault, the lack of defensive and PP structure absolutely IS.
We see the same stupid plays every night. We knew going into the season the D wasn’t good, but they seem to play without structure. McCabe made a bad diagonal pass from the goal line corner to the opposite side blue line that resulted in a scoring chance for Seattle in the dying minutes of a tie game.

Keep Matthews and Marner on separate lines. Mitch is better without him. Put Bertuzzi Tavares Nylander together. They worked well together.

Bertuzzi Tavares Nylander
Knies Matthews Jarnkrok
Robertson Domi Marner
I'd flip Marner and Nylander. The Robertson-Domi combination has speed, and Nylander would add to it.

You do risk creating a black hole defensively line. I think you need to get Matthews away from either top RW’s, but idk what combos you do.

yea but who has more ice time?:sarcasm:

the G/60 still goes to Jarry unfortunately.

Domi has been playing well though, he's someone who doesn't score much anyway, but I am sure he is gripping the stick a little tighter right now so it'd be nice if he could break the goose egg.

What you keep ignoring with the harping on the goalie, though, is that if the team keeps giving the other team grade-A scoring chances, even prime Hasek is going to give some up. The last two goals Seattle scored in this game were BOTH wide open guys with nobody even trying to stop them.
