Post-Game Talk: Leafs win Game 4!

Just wanna say that Nylander has looked more dangerous offensively than Marner.

I'd say our best playoff winger should be with our best centre but I don't wanna break up the Galch/Kerfoot/Nylander line and Keefe also needs to play them more.

You shouldn't mess with what's working. Don't even need to play those guys more now IMO, game 1 against WPG maybe then.

Same here, I think he is cooked after that one.

Nah, expect a clarification for the intent of the awkward joke/statement and an apology for how it came out. And we can all move on. I don’t understand what he was going for either and remember thinking at the time, “man that was awkward, what was that?”, but there’s no way the context was meant to be a reference to anything controversial. We’re talking about Ron MacLean here.

They were going to let Cherry keep going if he would have just agreed to apologize on air, which he wouldn’t. Ron’s gonna be fine.

Felt like they came out hard, but a little silly which caused a lot of odd man rushes.
Montreal's entire gameplan this series has been to do what Boston and Columbus did over the last three years. Issues are 1) this ain't the Leafs of 2019 or 2020, and 2) Montreal isn't nearly as good at that style as Boston or Columbus were. And when the Leafs get up by a goal, it forces Montreal to play riskier... Which is also not really part of their game, and the Leafs are MUCH MUCH better at it.

Nylander faces the habs 'secondary shutdown" units if you can call them that. Not a knock against willy but a huge win for a much deeper hockey team.

Exactly what happened and tomorrow with last change they're even less effective.

I think you give Nylander some looks on the top PP unit instead. Having another scoring threat on that unit should open up some more space for Matthews.

Marner is in no way having a bad series but he isn't doing very much as QB on that top unit right now.

I agree on the Habs trying to imitate CLB, but we're getting better goaltending and producing more offensively. They're also apply not as good as the B's were

I think those Bruins series were a different animal altogether though

Got my Matthews Timmy's collectible. :thumbu:

I was referring to the fact that Montreal came out physical, figuring that the Leafs would wilt if they were run out of the building physically. Which is how Boston likes to play opponents. Of course, that didn't work on the Leafs 2 years ago, and they're better and more experienced now than they were then...

Btw is anyone else so hyped up for this Amazon special? Almost like it’s scripted, division leaders, jumbo joe simmonds comes home, huge trade deadline, plays habs in first round so they have tons of history to talk about, Tavares injury scare and game 1 loss, redemption opportunities. They literally couldn’t write more storylines for this show

Marner's lack of success looks less like anything the Habs are doing and much more like poor decision making.

He's not a bad player and you don't just forget how to score. It's between the ears. Really hoping getting this round under his belt will settle him down and let him get back into his flow state.

Hockey Night in Canada Broadcaster Under Fire After Making Apparent Homophobic Joke on Live TV

Overall just very strange. McLean doesn't really seem like the kind of guy to make that type of joke, especially on national TV, so who knows what he actually meant when he said it. Either way it's a really bad look

OK I got caught up on this myself now, thanks for the link. LOL Mclean. Surprising he would be that dumb, usually he's just totally boring to the nth degree, 100% PC and the last person to put his foot in his mouth like that. Be interesting to see what happens now. Not all that interesting really but maybe more interesting than those intermissions usually are. So damn boring which is why I never watch and missed this nonsense last night, show was better with Cherry IMO, even when he was senile, at least he had some personality.

They really need to rethink what they're doing there. Good time to get rid of Ron but unless they replace him with someone more entertaining it won't matter much I guess. And I guess they won't replace Jen so that kind of puts a hard ceiling on how good they can be anyway unless she improves (possible I guess).

Haven’t heard of it? When is it coming out?

I had to do it, hopped onto the MTL board and checked out their post game, and game 5 threads...
I hope we win tomorrow as much to put the MTL fans out of their misery as it would be to finally get the 1st round monkey off our backs.
I must admit, some of the comments were so creative/entertaining that i actually did LoL

I am excited about it too and I agree with you. Especially, after the Tavares injury and the immediate resilience we showed. The further we go the better the series will be. It would have stunk to have it end in round 1 after such a great season.
