Post-Game Talk: Leafs win a barn burner

The vitriol against Reilly in the GDT after the SHG was pretty uncool. I get that most of us get emotional during games but the shortsighted calls about trading him was way overboard from my perspective.

It’s post game - and I feel the same. He’s vastly over rated by our fan base, he is not worth his cap hit.

Fell asleep after the Sens tied it in the second and woke up at 9:30 wondering where I was. I managed to actually switch channels and Fibe had it rewinded all the way to where I fell asleep and finished the game in almost real time. Not Campbell's or the defense's best game and I don't know why we got pulled into pond hockey with these guys but so what, we won. That team obviously elevates their game against us (especially Brown and good for him, wish we could have kept him). Matthews padding that Richard lead and Marner with a fantastic game. Very happy with my well rested game watching experience.

He was strong other than that PP debacle. I guess he should have dumped it in or shot a desperation shot towards the net, but there were a lot of other things that are going wrong on the PP if that is the best option for Rielly.
I would like to try somebody else on pp1 who is a threat with their slaphot

also somebody who isn’t a counterclockwise turnstyle

Congrats Mr Campbell, love it that he beat Price’s record. Also love love love Gally on the first line. Matthews still hot, habs shutout, great night of hockey.

Well as far as I'm concerned we finally have a pretty strong d-corp and along with the overall defensive team play we've exhibited we're finally playing the right way {for the most part}.

Rielly is a big part of that and if we trade him we're going backward. Who in the world are we going to acquire in place of him this close to the deadline that isn't going to make us a worse team?

After this season he has one more year at $5M, whether you agree or not that is a good price for what he brings overall.

I will never understand why, after a Leafs win, the vanquished team’s fan base:

1. Is “not impressed” with the Leafs that just beat their team
2. Knows the Leafs will never win a playoff round
3. States with certainty that our best players stink, are over-rated, draft busts or otherwise completely inept
4. Points out the obvious facts that their team outplayed, outchanced and otherwise owned the Leafs, but the (refs, bad ice, bad luck, bad bounce, Universe in general) were just against them tonight.

Happens EVERY game the Leafs win. Makes no sense.

THE LEAFS JUST BEAT YOUR TEAM. How does this not even register with some of those people?

(As an aside, I should really go back and see if we too say all of this after a Leafs loss, but the last loss seems SOOOOO long ago, so I won’t bother.)

If you look for that kind of reaction, you'll find it it. Do yourself a favour and don't waste your night looking under rocks for scorpions.

Most fans of your opponents recognize what talents Matthews and Marner are. I mean, how could any Sens fan diss Matthews after he's treated the Sens like his personal shooter tutor his whole carreer? Mind you, I don't like the guy, but who cares about that?

Good luck in the playoffs. I don't think I'll be able to cheer for you guys until I forget who Tucker was, but you'll be the most entertaining series to watch in any round.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy, and a nicer team. Keep streaking Soupy .... GLG.

i think soup and the boys really wanted this win for him tonight, soup made some big saves but played a bit more rattled than normal..more scrambly.
