Post-Game Talk: Leafs win a barn burner

Good night to be grateful that Matthews is on our side.

...and Marner

...and Campbell!!

If Ottawa could bring the same energy they have against the Leafs against any other team then they could have really competed for a playoff spot. But to be fair they can only put up that kind of fight once in a while since it's that draining. Winnipeg will probably blow them out the next couple games.

Not a pretty win, but they got the points and we can move ahead. Somewhat comforting in a way that they play much better against the better teams in their division than against the Senators. Good for Campbell in getting a historic win there. Not a pretty one, but they all count to the records :).

Campbell was human tonight but still good enough to win. Top line looked good. Holl and Muzzin looked bad. Rielly to a lesser extent as well. Take the win and move on.

Missed this one, sounds like Chucky had a good game with Matthews and Marner? That’s great to hear, he’s solidifying a position in the top 9.

I thought he was struggling to keep up with his linemates the first half of the game but he was great the final 25 minutes.

Ottawa certainly hasn't been easy pickings for the Leafs this season. Congratulations to Campbell! The streaks continue.

Great to get the win, all hail Campbell giving the Leafs another NHL record and taking one away from the Habs at the same time. The goals Ottawa scored were pretty good goals I couldn't call any of them a bad goal, in saying gee, Soup should have had that.

I am sad that I missed Matthews Hatty, but uber glad I missed whatever that vommit inducing win was.

Ottawa has rarely taken a night off.
They are going to be a real good team for years to come.

I will never understand why, after a Leafs win, the vanquished team’s fan base:

1. Is “not impressed” with the Leafs that just beat their team
2. Knows the Leafs will never win a playoff round
3. States with certainty that our best players stink, are over-rated, draft busts or otherwise completely inept
4. Points out the obvious facts that their team outplayed, outchanced and otherwise owned the Leafs, but the (refs, bad ice, bad luck, bad bounce, Universe in general) were just against them tonight.

Happens EVERY game the Leafs win. Makes no sense.

THE LEAFS JUST BEAT YOUR TEAM. How does this not even register with some of those people?

(As an aside, I should really go back and see if we too say all of this after a Leafs loss, but the last loss seems SOOOOO long ago, so I won’t bother.)

The vitriol against Reilly in the GDT after the SHG was pretty uncool. I get that most of us get emotional during games but the shortsighted calls about trading him was way overboard from my perspective.
