Post-Game Talk: Leafs win a barn burner

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
It was the first line and Hyman.
Tavares was snowshoeing around the ice accomplishing nothing.

Thats odd. It looked like they were on the ice a lot more
3rd period he would skip their shift a lot. It was very weird. That is the kinda game where you unleash them. Oilers would have played mcdavid and draisaitl 23 mins that game.

I'm usually pretty big on Rielly but that was a rough game.

Matty and Marner were great... gally looked pretty good too. Campbell shaky a bit but made some big saves.

They got the win. Not pretty but they got it.

Ship it.

The future Leafs season (career?) goal scorer and Hart trophy winner partners with his sidekick to push the offense over the line.

Not the type of game the Leafs should be in the habit of getting into, especially this close to the playoffs. They were not very tight against the forechecking of the Sens tonight.

We made it more interesting than it needed to be but our top guys showed why they are some of the best in the league

The Matthews line was amazing, Marner dishing to Matthews isn't fair and Chucky made some nice plays to keep the momentum going

Love that Campbell got the record, he wasn't at his best but he hung in tough and helped us get the points

Thank heavens for the Matthews line.

The Tavares line was OK, with Hyman leading the way.

Campbell made some stops, but played really deep in his net tonight.

Third and fourth lines have to be infused with some grittier players, just not good enough tonight, although Spezza always gives a solid effort.

Kerfoot was mostly invisible, and Thornton should be sitting in the press box. Can't believe he is taking up an NHL roster spot on a team with cup aspirations.

Dermott and Bogosian played really well, unfortunately the rest of the D played like crap.

Congratulations to Campbell on his NHL record and setting it against the Sens.

Take the win and run with it.

Up and down game for Campbell, but its hard to blame him for some of those goals where the Sens made some really good plays to score and/or other Leafs made a few errors that led to those scoring chances.

Campbell made enough good saves to keep the team in the game and even after letting in all those goals he still looked composed and calm and ready to make the next save.

One of those games that every mistakes seem to end up inside the net. No worries as long as it is a W.
Gally got game and he looks good on the first line.
Campbell made the saves when it matters, and that’s all it counts. Have a feeling he will have a shut out next game.
Dermott and Bogo are really solid.
Jumbo needs to snap out of whatever funk he is in, he is slow but still better than what he is showing.
Kerfoot is quiet and effective.

He was strong other than that PP debacle. I guess he should have dumped it in or shot a desperation shot towards the net, but there were a lot of other things that are going wrong on the PP if that is the best option for Rielly.

That is what I was seeing...

Justin Holl was the only guy on our team with below a 50% CF% at 5-on-5 today. He had a 44.83% and he was atrocious. Muzzin was a bit better but also not great. Rest of the defense was great for the most part, and I think Dermott deserves major praise today. He made some really nice plays to bail out Bogosian and that 3rd pairing made up for the 2nd pairing today.

Thornton looks washed but the rest of the forwards looked fine, including the 4th line. It was quiet but effective.

Wasn't Campbell's best game today but he was the better goalie today. Barely.

barabanov sucked .. his days are numbered on this team.
thornton is garbage at this point. barely a 4th liner because he doesnt bring energy
holl ... had a rare off game. he is uaually our most consistant D man
campbell ... wasnt great
spezza ... was he even playing tonight ? i dont remember hearing his name once

everyone else you can score on a scale of above average to inhuman :)

Imagine having a goalie winning every single game he plays and a top center who scores over a goal per game when healthy?

Games against Ottawa are never easy for some reason and they seemed due for a let down game.. let’s hope this was it even though they won.

Happy they pulled the win off and that Matthews got a hat trick

Not the prettiest game, but these are the kinds of games you need to persevere through if you want to go far in the playoffs.
