Went life and death with a Wings team on a back to back but I guess a W is a W :scared:
Well it's much better than when the Pens (with 5 best players missing) and on the 2nd of B2B nights creamed us 7-1.

And that’s scary if that’s all the leafs are let’s not forget Detroit shorthanded just like the last couple teams we played . We will see next week

The Wings have some nice young players with obvious bright futures but some of those support players on their team tonight are marginal. They weren't a particularly difficult opponent.

I see some fans are still miserable after back to back wins, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Looks like were done talking about how Tavares can't play the game any more, that's nice to see anyway. Bit week coming up, GLG!!
Don't you yourself say that it's the playoffs that matter, not the regular season?

Matthews is the best defensive forward on the team so that’d be a no to that. He wasn’t really going tonight though so I have little issue with leaning on the line that was instead
You couldn't be more wrong. You'd think our best defensive forward would get some PK if that was the case, eh? Best defensive forward lol...

Leafs dominated large parts of this game. Tavares was a new man today.

Mrazek probably would want 2 of those goals back. He was leaky today. He didn't make many tough saves.

By far the best game I have seen from Tavares in a long while, great effort all around from his line. I wasn't impressed with the top line nor the 4th, but two points is two points, all in all, good game!

We shall see. Hopefully they wake up and up the compete level, because if they do not it is going to be a long season.

Both goalies were bad. Marner had 0 pts and 1 shot until Greiss gave him a gift to change the narrative.

Seemed like the hit woke JT out of whatever was slowing him down to start the season.

Missed the game again but looking at the scoresheet, I hope we arnt making a huge mistake in splitting Marner and Matthews up.

Most people would probably say the best line in the league the last 3 years has been the so-called "perfection" line but the Leafs top line was just as potent and it feels to me like we are handcuffing Matthews as he doesnt just lose his left winger but also his right winger who is one of the best setup guys in the league.

Over the last 3 years 5v5:

Pasta/Bergeron/Marchand:
xGF%: 60.51
Goal differential: 62.08 (4.08/60 for - 2.49/60 against)

Hyman/Matthews/Marner:
xGF%: 59.54
Goal differential: 62.87 (4.07/60 for - 2.4/60 against)

(Matthews/Marner also 59.55 xGF% and 61.88% goal differential with all left-wingers)

The top 4 are all great players of course and will gel better as the games go on but it still seems a bit odd to me.

2 pts is 2 pts.
Whine about losses.

A few of those goals were players mistakes more than anything.

Also, Dermott needs a few more games playing RHD against too competitions, once he get comfortable, he would be good might even be great.

Probably a benching. He wasn’t great, but wasn’t bad per say. Let’s use holl as a barometer, everyone was above that level imo. I still would’ve played him but moved him down or something or just played him less, but not completely benched him, this game was 5-2 with average goaltending

Also, holl better not be coming in for him.

I like Holl's game and he's pretty cheap. I also haven't watched much of the leafs this year but I know the talk... I'll take your word for it.

The results and the media around the team this season haven't exactly motivated me to make sure I catch the next game or anything lol. I guess I'm probably gonna hear it about not being a "true" fan or whatever but to be honest I'm just fatigued. It's just repeating what Dangle said but it so true. Teams lose games, whatever, but the inconsistent level of effort for sooooo long is just too frustrasting for me to want to devote that many of my free evenings anymore. At this point I'd rather keep up with what's happening by turning on a podcast, following transactions, watching the odd game, turning it on for a period here and there to see if the game's worth watching, etc.

Dangle can absorb my punishment for the sin of being a leaf fan like some kinda leafs jesus figure. I don't need it anymore lol.

On a more positive note Liljegren looked good. The people who actually watch the AHL have being saying he's rounded into a steady guy for what feels like years now. He's making it look like giving him a chance was indeed overdue.
