2 Marner mistakes is the simple answer. We even won the offensive zone draw.

He was good otherwise, but that last sequence ran through him
You should leave your marner bias behind when you post crap like this.

watch the replay of the last minute. You see keefe telling marner to tell the center to not draw the puck back but knock it forward into the corner. You then see marner telling the center what keefe wants. On the faceoff marner is anticipating the puck going into the corner and starts that way. To his surprise the center draws the puck back. That is why marner is upset. Again give yiur bias a rest. Marner is one of our best defensive players on the team

All posters on here get matthews away from marner put him with willy

nylander got walked leading to a goal. Very lazy play

matthews caused a goal by not getting engaged in the corner

these two our worst forwards this game

So instead of tying up his man on the draw and stopping the forecheck, he gets confused which causes the pressure. Not great. He has to either make the play on the draw or tie up his man, neither is a worst case scenario and really doing both should be the expectation in that last minute. The up your man and chip it to the D.

Then instead of cutting off the wall and going to his wing on the backcheck he drifts to the middle where there is back pressure. Flies by Gagner on the centering pass, which to his credit he blocks the first attempt, but slides out and allows the centering pass for the last second scramble.

Game was good, last minute was a little rough.

Nice spin but it doesn’t work

He anticipated the puck going forward

Didn’t get confused lol nice spin

Came back as hard as he could and blocks a shot

Your making it sound like he should be playing all five positions on that play

He did very good on that play the last shot had nothing to do with him making a bad play lol

You should change your user name to spin doctor

Not all 5 positions, just his own. Tie up his man on the draw, play dies in their end. Cutoff the wall instead of rolling to C and there is no goal mouth scramble on the backcheck.

It's okay to say your favourite player made a mistake. It happens, just trying to do too much

I'm not sure anyone knows what kind of player he actually is, at least not in the playoffs where it matters most.
Friendly reminder he has 25p in 32 playoff games (better than Matthews and Nylander, do people not remember the 2018 playoffs where he had 9 points and the next highest was 37 year old Marleau with 5?); he was really bad last playoffs, but was quite good in the first 3 playoffs. The narrative that he's never shown up in the playoffs is just false; I get he's overpaid, hasn't played well this year except the last 2 games, and was bad in the playoffs but things don't magically become true if enough people just say random things.

Yeah we remember he was good in the 2018 playoffs. Friendly reminder to you my friend - that was a long time ago. And no he wasn't quite good in the first 3 playoffs, he was good in the first 2 playoffs, but kind of meh in the last three.

Nobody has said he's "never" shown up in the playoffs. To steal a phrase from you - just because you say random things doesn't magically make them true and straw man arguments add nothing to the conversation.

I'm glad you get he's overpaid, agreed.

Hasn't played well this year except the last 2 games ... whatever, it's early in the season and I'm not going to give him a hard time about that. Either he plays like a rock star next playoffs or he doesn't, I think I speak for most Leaf fans when I say that that's what I care about.

U keep looking at the stats then you can conclude he signed a fair contract
Unlike his actual play on the ice where even in those playoffs he gets points he wasn’t good
Why we lose in playoffs, numbers look ok but performance are very weak
Secondary points, empty net stuff help paint an unrealistic picture sometimes
Why I prefer to watch myself and not rely on just numbers and expert commentating to affect me too much

Just ordered this to be ready when it's announced

JT and Mitch work very well together .. and Kerfoot brought required speed to that line .. Keefer you need to keep those guys together as da FIT is perfect and forms a solid NHL line

Matty Willy and Bunting also solid .. although Matty with a couple no brainer errors .. again da FIT is perfect and forms a solid NHL line

After that we need to figure out a DEFENSIVE shutdown line and an ENERGY line .. I am not sure we have personnel right now for either .. certainly Kase should NOT be on a shutdown line AND our energy line is lacking speed badly

On defense we were fine until 3rd period but I worry it will not hold against better teams .. Holl being pushed out is a good thing as we have more skill in lineup but i still think we are missing toughness and size back there

In G put Soup back in .. he is our #1 for sure
