Leafs win and certain posters who were out in full force after the loss disappear
That might be me. Here's why.

Leafs defeating an opponent whom they are heavily favoured to smack down are not games I care to get emotionally invested in. Leafs are supposed to win these as a matter of rote. NEXT. Crowing and chest-thumping after beating up the disabled is ridiculous.

Leafs lose a close hard fought emotional game, I can take that without spewing vitriol. Upset a Cup favourite and it's time to put the drinking shorts on. But lose in a bewildering, "typical Leafs for the last 50 years" ugly way to an underdog deserves biting comment.

Now go put me on your block list.

Whatever his intent was, the coaching staff in Toronto need to put a picture of it up in the changing room just as they walk out onto the ice. You make it what you want it and use it.

I remember a play-off semi final where my team (Nottingham Forest) were 1-1 heading into the second leg at Sheff Utd. Our website produced ticket costs/purchases for a potential final at Wembley.

We were 2-0 up at half time in the second leg, 3-1 on aggregate. During the half-time team talk, Neil Warnock the Sheff Utd manager showed his team we had been advertising final tickets and that we were arrogant enough to believe we were already there.

Sheff Utd came out, won the game 4-2 and made it to the final. Coincidently, Sheff Utd had also pre-emptively advertised the same on their website re: tickets, simply because the final was only a week later, so everything had to be prepared for tickets to be on sale the following day. He obviously didn't mention that to his team, he showed them what he wanted to, knowing it would get the best out of them.

Regardless of what people say, The Leafs should take that four-fingered salute as Montreal believing the series was theirs and that is motivation to go out there and put them firmly in their place.
Wait, you played in the Premier league? Damn.

Who do you want, GM making phantom calls from above that cost the team or GM racing to the ice to look after his players?
Fact anyone can find issue with Dubas' reaction is embarrassing. Players see that, it's going to make you want to either stay a Leaf, or become a Leaf. Being human and caring about your players/their families is a huge selling point. I know it would be for me. Some moments call for you being a friend first, and a boss second

My main takeaways from last night:

1)
Campbell, another great game from our most important player. I had a peek at the GDT and was disappointed (but not surprised) to see people yelling at him for "swimming". I guess they've all STFU now, hope they stay that way for a while.

2)
Physicality! Speed and skill are great but hockey is an emotional game and there's nothing like laying some hits on the opposition and hearing that satisfying crunch when they slam into the boards to get the juices flowing. It's no coincidence that we weren't hitting in game one and were mediocre overall, but last night we were hitting them and dominated.

3)
Simmonds! I always had faith that he'd be a very important piece for us in the playoffs, so far so good!

4)
Another great game from Nylander, just like I said after game one - that's a very good sign for us going forward!

5)
I've always thought Botterill's been OK on the broadcasts and taken way too much criticism from posters here but LOL at what she had to say last night about televised ... I'm not even gonna say it. Sorry Jen, I just can't stick up for you any more, not after that nonsense. TV is big business and is driven by monetary considerations period and it's naive beyond belief to not understand this. JMHO.

I picked the Leafs in 4-5 games. Looked pretty silly after game one, long way to go but looking better now anyway.

GLG!!

Glad we traded for Kerfoot.
The guy is sneaky annoying lol fast, good defensively, PK guy, C and W versatility, takes tons of punishment and keeps motoring. I'm a big Kadri fan, but we just watched him blow it again this playoffs. Kerfoot has been good for us though. That third line I think needs to stay intact. As long as Engvall doesn't get complacent like he seems to do. Good defensive line, and can skate with any line in the league

Take it in at least 6.
As long as we don’t go to 7 because I have little faith and dislike the anything can happen scenario. Which doesn’t usually favour us.

Agreed. As heavy favourites going in, going to game 7 is obviously a very bad scenario for us.

Spezza - unbelievable, like a fine wine, gets tougher with age and still has that talent.

Simmonds - thank you, you showed up tonight, that's what we needed.

Great game, dominated, and weren't pushed around or playing too scared (though Marner still needs to sack up, buddy is terrified of contact...)

Good thing there weren't any fans in the building... because they literally would have blown the roof off after the Sandin goal.

I can not for the life of me stop watching that goal

The ice in Montreal is better so playing there probably favors the Leafs. Bergevin is probably cranking the heat in the arena as we speak.

You’re the type of person to bully a kid in high school and then be upset you weren’t invited to their wedding.

That coaches challenge was bizarre. Ducharme shouldn't be happy that the GM interfered in what should have been Ducharme's call. Ducharme knew it was BS just like the rest of us.

But hey, if Bergevin wants to continue to do dumb things, have at it.

Dubas' reaction would be exactly my reaction because I have an emotional disposition. But I also know I should never be leading anyone into battle either. I expect stoicism from leaders.
