What we learned: when the game is tied or montreal is ahead their gameplan is just crash and bash, hope to get some rush chances.

When they're chasing they tempered down a lot. That's how the rest of the series is probably going to go, dictated by the game situation.

Reffing: There were definitely a couple non calls on us that surprised me. A couple arms stuck out or wrapped around guys that get called every time. If I was a habs fan I'd be looking at those and complaining about the reffing.

I dont know about sky is falling for the team but I have to admit. I cared alot less about the overall series after seeing Tavares like that. made me feel like it didn't really matter anymore. but that went away once the puck dropped in Game 2. was right back cheering to win.
My quote is directed at all the people talking about how we were going to get swept, are mental midgets, need the team to be blown up, etc. after a single game in which there was just a little bit of a distraction...

Toronto is still the better team even without Tavares. Not saying the series is by any means over, but "certain people" need to stop acting like the stereotypical Leafs fan.

I don't think this will stop until we win a series.
from being a Leafs fan and seeing how things usually unfold it's hard not to get little down when things go bad even early in a series.
Just another oh here we go again. and then heart break.
Our fanbase is just sick of losing and craving winning

We are a little tough on our team as any large fan base can be

I wonder what Edmundson said to Simmonds at the tail end of that scrum. That turning right with his glove on had serious ill intent.

Auston Matthews now has the GWG for each of our last 3 playoff wins. He was also responsible for breaking the 0-0 tie late in game 5 of 2019. A game we ended up winning.

Clutch

Also led the league in GWG the regular season. Dude is straight up the game breaking boss!

I think they mentioned in the broadcast that it represents the 4 young players who were scratched. Showing solidarity for them or something.
Interesting. So Kotkaniemi either pulled an F-U to the Leafs or a subtle F-U to the Habs coach. I'm still going for the former. I mean, it just makes way more sense to make a cocky gesture during a playoff game than some sort of "we're the Fabulous 4!" weirdness.

Also, unless HNIC has clear evidence of what he was doing, they need to shut their pie holes! What, they're trying to 'game manage' fans' emotions now? We're not allowed to make fun of Kotkaniemi's ridiculous gesture?!

Whatever his intent was, the coaching staff in Toronto need to put a picture of it up in the changing room just as they walk out onto the ice. You make it what you want it and use it.

I remember a play-off semi final where my team (Nottingham Forest) were 1-1 heading into the second leg at Sheff Utd. Our website produced ticket costs/purchases for a potential final at Wembley.

We were 2-0 up at half time in the second leg, 3-1 on aggregate. During the half-time team talk, Neil Warnock the Sheff Utd manager showed his team we had been advertising final tickets and that we were arrogant enough to believe we were already there.

Sheff Utd came out, won the game 4-2 and made it to the final. Coincidently, Sheff Utd had also pre-emptively advertised the same on their website re: tickets, simply because the final was only a week later, so everything had to be prepared for tickets to be on sale the following day. He obviously didn't mention that to his team, he showed them what he wanted to, knowing it would get the best out of them.

Regardless of what people say, The Leafs should take that four-fingered salute as Montreal believing the series was theirs and that is motivation to go out there and put them firmly in their place.

The 1st penalty of the game on Hyman was very soft and many Leaf fans were complaining.

Crazy to me how the habs and hab fans are complaining about the reffing. What do you expect when you crossheck a player in the head, crosscheck a player till your stick breaks and then have a failed goal challenged. Even another one was 3 habs players slashing Nylander on the hand. So 4 out of 6 are easily warranted and easy calls. Not to mention the worst call in the entire game was against Hyman. If you act undisciplined that's what happens, at least that's what should. Probably could have called the Simmonds penalty but so what, the game was 5-1 and was over.

Gotta expect the crosscheck to the head to be called, the next one I missed on the replay was a slash I think? I wondered if that was a soft call, but missed it. I thought that the broken stick crosscheck could have been let go in the playoffs, but the stick broke. I thought the call on Hyman in the first could have been let go. Generally I think the refs have been calling more in this series than some of the others I've watched. Habs can't really complain though there have been soft calls both ways.

You're totally right and the Leaf's power play is terrible anyway. The score was 5-1 ok maybe 4-1 without the empty netter so the 2 pp goals wasn't the difference.

She Weber is absolute scum. That bullshit he pulled on the final face off while down four goals was as bush league as it gets.
That entire team are nothing but cheap hacks.
Simmonds just go right at him next game and start throwing punches. Get that piece of shit off the ice for five minutes.
What a scum bag he is!
We're better off having Weber on the ice. He's shit. He can't skate at all.

IMO.....the soft call on Hyman was a make up for the ref not getting out of the way of the puck that resulted in the Spezza goal.

Game management at its finest.
