Crazy to me how the habs and hab fans are complaining about the reffing. What do you expect when you crossheck a player in the head, crosscheck a player till your stick breaks and then have a failed goal challenged. Even another one was 3 habs players slashing Nylander on the hand. So 4 out of 6 are easily warranted and easy calls. Not to mention the worst call in the entire game was against Hyman. If you act undisciplined that's what happens, at least that's what should. Probably could have called the Simmonds penalty but so what, the game was 5-1 and was over.

Apparently Simmonds is a coward? Crazy.

According to them they will win every game now that we had our little momentum.

Ah well.

Both of us just need to stay off their boards and focus on the back to back coming up.

I get the “hate” for guys like Marner and Nylander in a tight checking series like this (or the ones against Columbus and Boston), but that’s why we got guys like Simmonds and Foligno, to cover up for their short comings. Against teams like the Oilers and Jets, or later on like Avalanche or Tampa, those guys will really show their value.

I was screaming at my TV when Marner made that drop pass to Matthews in the second, but like 5 seconds later it was in the back of the net. Do I wish he would shoot more? Of course, but you take the bad with the good, and he’s been a net positive I think.

Nylander has been effective and has scored twice. Sure, he's shy'd away from contact a few time, but all in all he's been solid.

Marner has not. For a guy who demanded Matthews money he needs to play better regardless of who we are playing.

I didn't read through this thread, but can we take a minute to appreciate Willy Nylander? Guy has been arguably our best forward through 2 games. People made up their mind 5 years ago and absolutely refuse to change their opinion of him. All he does is smile and put up points. I love this guy and love Spezza too (but that's a different rant).

Yep hoping to see more from Marner and Foligno. Great overall game though. Felt so good to get 2PPGs.

Engvall looked hungry and engaged
Sandin was confident af and we needed that on the pp
Nylander is in po mode
Really happy with the win but happiest for the way the team played.

She Weber is absolute scum. That bullshit he pulled on the final face off while down four goals was as bush league as it gets.
That entire team are nothing but cheap hacks.
Simmonds just go right at him next game and start throwing punches. Get that piece of shit off the ice for five minutes.
What a scum bag he is!

Great team performance.

Matthews was a physical beast this game.

The Kerfoot line was very good and you can see the impact Engvall's speed adds to the line.

Sandin is a better passer than Rielly and the puck moves from side to side better with him QB'ing the PP. The threat of a one time slapper is also big as teams wont be able to collapse down into the box and clog passing lanes for Mitch.

Foligno with a quiet but effective game. Gave our team possession tons tonight with his dominance in the faceoff circle.

Simmonds played hard and set the tone physically. Montreal will most likely attempt to get even more physical and try to run us next game as they clearly cant play with us when we match their intensity.

When we play like we did tonight where every player is playing intense physical hockey, we're a difficult team to handle.

a) The literal point of these boards is to discuss hockey games.
b) You do realize a team can win and still do some things poorly, in the same way that a team can lose and have done a number of things well?

Thanks for the clarification.

You do realize that we could win the cup, and a portion of the fan base would complain about the coaching, that Nylander who scored the cup winning goal two feet from the net, wasn’t engaged enough and played too much in the perimeter, and a host of other things. There are a ton of very unhappy people posting in here, who thrive when lose, and find ways to complain when we win. It’s how they operate.

I've always said I have no problem with a guy shying away from hits as long as he ends up with the puck more often then not.

Nylander has some crafty moves to get the puck in 1 on 1 battles without talking a big hit.

According to many his contact was "the worst contact in the league" when he signed, I had faith he would live up to it, mentioned it to some friends who hated the contact.

Now he has one of the best contacts on this team.

Did we solve "the man, the myth, the mystery" Carey Price? I wonder if Rosie DiManno will now write a fluff piece on Campbell.

Sadly now we will have to deal with all the nonsense hype for the greatest player not playing in the playoffs - Cole Caufield.

To last game's "the sky is falling" crowd:

Welcome back to the bandwagon. Try to stay with us.
I dont know about sky is falling for the team but I have to admit. I cared alot less about the overall series after seeing Tavares like that. made me feel like it didn't really matter anymore. but that went away once the puck dropped in Game 2. was right back cheering to win.

The solution to Price is and always has been shoot at the top half of the net. He's a sieve there and spends all his time on his knees.
