Think we’ll see Freddy in the 2nd game of the b2b?
I'd like to see it. The amount that goalie performance drops when playing two games back to back is enormous.

Doubt Leafs do it though, coach is going to cover his ass. If Campbell has a bad game on the second night, Campbell gets the blame. If Andersen has a bad game on the second night, Keefe gets the blame.

Galchenyuk didn't look very good. I hope he rotates out for another look at Nash, bumping Kerfoot or Mikheyev up the the second line.

Who do you want, GM making phantom calls from above that cost the team or GM racing to the ice to look after his players?

I question Dubas GM capabilities. I don't question him as a person and I never will. He genuinely cares about his staff

On top of that, Dubas does't intervene with Keefe's decisions. He doesn't micromanage. Coaching decisions are left to coach
Something clearly isn't the case in Montreal.

Any other GM would be fired by now for the lack of success in Montreal by now. You can tell Marc is in bed with a lot of people

Mikheyev Kerfoot Engvall is such a good third line, all 3 have wheels but most importantly they are giant pains in the ass. Smothering on the forecheck like a swarm of flies, it reminds me of how Vegas plays where it's just wave after wave of pressure until they create the turnover. Perfect example of how defense should be played 200 feet from your own net, and they've got sneaky grit too.

Read through a bit of the gdt and honestly I have to wonder what game some of you are watching. The amount of reactionary steaming piles of hot takes in there is sad and some of you should be ashamed of yourselves

Engvall's been placing his shots well. He nearly got one past Price from around the top of the circle but it just grazed Price's puffy pants.

I think they only way we see freddy in game 4 is if we win, but Campbell doesn't have a good game. Or injury.

If we win and Campbell plays well and isn't feeling hurt then we're riding him.

If we lose, I'm not sure. I don't think they want to go down 2 games to 1 and then put freddy in net, in case he gets exposed.

LOL Hab fans are some butt hurt their teams diving antics didn't get any attention from the refs but their parade to the PIM box did. Well Toilet seat fans, see when your team chats they get penalized.

One classy Hab fan even said that their team was unfairly targeted by the refs as a way to even up the score for the Tavares hit. Say classy Mousereal ...

Hey I called it before the playoffs started,
  • Montreal would run our players.. check
  • Montreal will dive to get PIM's .. half check.. they were diving but the refs didn't fall for it
  • Montreal will feel that in game 3 they are owed something from the NHL and will dive even more, thinking they will get the favorable calls because of all the PIMs they took in Game 3.
  • An early barometer of how the game/series is going is how many fans are bitching about the reffing, if you are bitching about reffing, your team is probably losing.

a) The literal point of these boards is to discuss hockey games.
b) You do realize a team can win and still do some things poorly, in the same way that a team can lose and have done a number of things well?

This is true, except when they lose no one says anything good.

The Leafs played well in Game 1 except for they couldn't finish.

Take away the 5 PP's for Montreal and they almost didn't generate any offense.

Leafs were 2 posts and a shot by Marner from easily winning that game.

We were the dominant team last night. Seemed like folks were panicking after the first game (based on reading the post game thread), but I had a feeling we could swing things around and normalize the situation again.

We have a lot of talent on this team. So, even with Tavares going down, other guys will just have to step up, and we have the horses to do so.

I think the mental (determination) part of the game is something that has let us down in the past. You got to fight extra hard in playoffs, time and space is more limited, and you've got to win those 50/50 puck battles. When we combine those aspects of the game with our talent, we have a pretty decent chance of doing something good. We should emerge from the divisional rounds as long as we battle and play up to our capabilities. I've felt this way prior to the first game of the season.

poor cole caufield, if he gets in he will have to experience the hart hitting playoff style going on. I can't imagine he will respond well. A player who creates his own opportunities and a lethal shot, but he will get his fair share of hits put on him.

If the Canadiens continue to take liberties on our skill players, expect Caufield to take a message.

Tomorrow at 7. Don't expect to see Allen this series unless something odd happens to Price.

you mean like allowing 4 goals?

I mentioned this earlier, but I’m still not fully over all the emotions I went through after watching Tavares struggle to get up the other night. The people who have been spending every day with him for the last few months must be feeling similar, if not worse, which is what made Toronto’s response in Game 2 such a big deal for me.
It’s one thing to get a bit of puck luck, ride a hot goalie, and steal a game against a rival. It’s another to completely dominate them in all facets of the game. The latter is what we saw in Game 2 from Toronto. You have to think Montreal is going to put together a better performance in Game 3, especially if they decide to play a few more of their talented young players.
This series just got a lot more interesting. I can’t wait to be along with you all for the ride!

from hotstove pretty good analysis of Sandin, Engvall, Spezza, our PP in general. Game 2 Analysis: Power play roars to life, Engvall-Kerfoot-Mikheyev line outstanding in Maple Leafs' dominant Game 2 win
