*I don't know how many watched the NJD's feed, but gawd it was awful. The worst. Call me old fashioned, but the amount of gambling commercials is ridiculous.
*Missed the first two periods, but found the refs to be favoring the Devils in the third. Not regarding any blatant calls, but in allowing NJ to consistently slow down/interfere with Leafs attempting to get to the man with the puck. Subtle stuff, but effectively giving the puck handler an extra moment to decide.
*I know it's 'Leafy', but how did that deflection go under Samsonov's glove and over his skate. Yikes.
*I thought the new additions played well. Lafferty impressed.
*For all the grief he takes, Kerfoot had a good third period. But damn, he is snake bit.

*As others have said, lose 2 or your top 3 centers and watch this team win  This team:vhappy:

Matthews looks so off. He doesn't have the speed he used to have in prior seasons. He's playing slow.

I don't know if this is something that can heal by the playoffs. I hope so, doesn't make sense for Dubas to go all-in with Matthews at 50%.

I don’t want to be the guy to criticize after a big win, but was it just me or did Brodie look bad tonight?
Oh don't worry you are not the only one to criticize. Reading this thread you would think the Leafs got blown out.

I find with US feeds, a lot of game presentations are at the quality of cable access television you used to see with Leafs TV back in the day. The local production values can be really low. Like non Big 4 pro sports level.

The defeatists before the game better come prepared with a big plate of crow. Literally trading everyone from Mattews to crying about Kerfoot and Holl. Even before the puck drop.

Great game from Samsonov and gutsy win for the Leafs against one of the better and hottest teams in the league.
LeaFlanders are a smal but solid part of the teams overall support network. Sure they can be horribly annoying but they're entertaining for the most part, just wish they'd learn to use their indoor voice more often, when 99% of their vocalization is screaming like deranged banshee!

Devs look a little leaner and a little meaner but the big difference is that Vanicek has given them some pretty solid tending.

Last year they’d come out hard and get 2-3 put by them and deflate, I know the Leafs did this to them a few times.

Still don’t know if I trust them getting by the Rangers or whoever they play, but much improvement on the ice.

Slower than usual but him and McCabe were good defensively.

I think the road trip has been hard on a few forwards.

I feel like he was getting beat wide often, a few fumbled clearing attempts, out of position on the Palat goal.

The speed of NJ seemed to really give him trouble IMO. Just weird to see from Brodie who is normally effortlessly quiet.

Also, is it just me or are the Devils not that good defensively? Like I know their advanced stats are great but I feel like it's primarily due to their ability to dominate possession and spend time in the offensive zone

There was lots of free ice and very open for us to make plays when we were trailing
Reminded me of the early leafs when we were younger. Very open skilled game but that doesn’t translate well against structure or vets who know how to grind out wins.

Great future though
