Man what a feeling to have Matthews get the game winner here. Hope this gets him rolling now going forward.

To be honest O'Reilly is pretty slow himself. We are no doubt still a better team with them though.
Probably a better fit for the playoffs, but not so/as much regular season.

I don’t want to be the guy to criticize after a big win, but was it just me or did Brodie look bad tonight?

Kerfoot was great. The main reason the top line stayed afloat most shifts.

Holl was struggling I agree but made the play to tie the game.

Kerfoot with 0’s across the board on the big line and Bunting reinstated late on that line would suggest he didn’t reach greatness. But as always he’s a consistent energy guy who does a bit of everything and has no touch around the net.

It's not hard after watching this game why the team opted to keep him as a depth piece then try and get a late pick.

He's not going to be perfect, but he can help get the job done when needed, especially when injuries hit

In it's totality, it didn't feel like a game we shouldn't win, but it did feel like a game we wouldn't win.

Good battle. Found a way.

That was pure grossness in the first period, especially from a guy like Lafferty. He redeemed himself in the final two periods. Kerfoot has to be the best player in the league with absolutely no finish. Kampf plays a mans game, love it. And good for Bunting to net one, maybe that gets him going. Sammy was excellent; that third one against was a fluke imo. McCabe not wearing 24 is an (overstated) travesty, nice play at the end to prevent a good chance against. Nice to see Matthews score, we're going to need him to start spinning things up a bit here.

Its hard for me. Guy sucks and we should have cut bait for the cap space.

No point now that deadlines past

Now we know how TB feels on many nights. Vasi can hide a lot of warts on a team. Samsonov did that for us. We didn’t have a great first period but after that we got clutch goals. Nylander had a good game. Holmberg had a terrible game. Holl was on the ice for three goals against but made one good stretch pass. Brodie wandering in the offensive zone way too much and got caught a few times.

I don’t think there’s any mystery what Kerfoot is. Like I always say, you break down every facet of his game, it’s quality. Has that agility and near elite speed, handles the puck clean like a dream. Not a high vision guy but heads up. Good passing. Hustle and jam for his size. Eye test, he’s a great practice player. Just when you add it up, it’s somehow less than the sum.

If he was paid $2 million and under, he’d be a no brainer fan favourite doing more than Lafferty, Acciari. But he’s like one of the few middle class guys on a top heavy team and doesn’t seem to be able to generate any offense approaching his salary.

Was this the best game of the Leafs sofar this season, I say pretty close.

My prediction is correct again. Thats like 2 for 57 now, lol.

One good pass doesn’t make up for all his other bad plays. Soft and slow doesn’t cut it in the playoffs
This for me too please.

Honestly, because he made one good pass we are going to ignore the goals scored tonight while he was in Holl-land?

Fine with him on the 3rd pairing and limited minutes, but if Keefe insists on sitting Liljegren, Keefe will miraculously make Holl an even bigger liability thank Holl could possibly make himself…

Anyway, celebrate a well deserved win tonight. Good on Samsonov and McCabe is looking like exactly the kind of defensive player we’ve been needing……. Now just find someone like him who is a RHD……. :thumbu:

that little tip pass by Mitch to Mo(?) to keep the play going was an underrated highlight for me. If he fails on that pass, we likely don't tie the game up on that play and instead, NJ comes in and scores on a breakaway.
