Also, is it just me or are the Devils not that good defensively? Like I know their advanced stats are great but I feel like it's primarily due to their ability to dominate possession and spend time in the offensive zone

There was lots of free ice and very open for us to make plays when we were trailing

The first half of that game looked like it could be an opportunistic playoff road win, shut down the opposition with smothering defense, goaltending, win 1-0, 2-1 type affair.

The second half was like a sluggish track meet, both teams knocking over every barrier in the worst hurdles race.

Holmberg looks a lot worse than the last time we saw him.

Matthews really needed that goal. Very opportune PP and GW goal.

Nylander seems to be falling into bad habits, taking that penalty after the 4 minute kill only to have Marner bail him out.

Rielly looked pretty good in the first half of the game and much worse in the second half.

Kerfoot and Holl, see game notes.

McCabe is solid.

Are Acciari, Lafferty starting to lose their personality as they settle into Leaf red shirt roles?
The Nylander slash happens every game multiple times. Just unfortunate the stick broke.

He was easily one of the best Leafs tonight

Only caught the last 10 mins .. that was fun

Nice to see the team bail out Sammy .. that 3rd goal was brutal, but also kind of strange how it found the smallest spot to get through.

Anyway Holl deserves some praise for the pass up to Kampf, and Kampf makes a nice play to get the game tied.

Also kudos to the big guns for stepping up when needed. Marner produced, Nylander set up the winner, and Matthews finished it. Great job by the PP. Thought when Mo started to button hook in the neutral zone he was skating himself into a turnover, but calmly found Mitch and the rest was history.

That's so many negatives for a game the Leafs went toe to toe with another strong team.

The first half of the game was awful for the Leafs as well and Samsonov stood on his head. The 2nd and 3rd periods was a lot more in favour of the Leafs.

Reading that game summary makes me question if the Leafs even won the game?

I hope Knies is good, because I don't think you can trust the likes of ZAR/Holmberg/Steeves as depth options in the playoffs. McMann seems solid but needs another look
I'm not sure if this is true but I read somewhere that McMann's injured? If so that explains why he isn't up right now

Otherwise he should absolutely be up here

Well deserved win.

They earned it tonight.

Meier did not impress me tonight at all. Maybe just an off-night for him.

Mitch Marner, William Nylander……. Holy dirty-word, these guys are amazing.

Hopefully this gets Matthews going too, and nice to see Bunting get one.

The first half was interesting. I kept thinking the Leafs were in rope a dope mode like the 2000s Leafs vs Ottawa in the playoffs. Basically getting out skated, out shot, hemmed in and yet able to get on the board and shut it down.

The Holmberg penalty turned it into a bit of a slop fest. But overall it just didn’t feel like a very sharp Leafs team.

If we weren't sharp, not sure what that makes the Devils.
