Man, how many games in a row now is Marner at the top of this graphic?

Funny that Timmins is that high up (for the, ahem, deliberately missed shot assist) when his on-ice stats were awful. Though I agree A. Nylander was bad.

Then again other that Marner and Stolarz being good (excluding the drop pass on the breakway, c'mon Mitch) pretty much everyone had a dull and uninspired game considering the quality of the opposition. Good video quality though.

Did they say on the telecast why Matthews started the game with Lorenz and Robertson?

Benoit has really become excellent lately. Had a tough start the year, but he has solidified himself well.

Thought Myers was very good for not having played in months. One bad turnover, but got in lanes, used his size, skated well. I think there’s a player there.

Eh i thought Nylander was disinterested and Matthews was just ineffective.

That line got hemmed in just felt like after two zip they shut it down knowing how ridiculous the schedule is going to be.

Mitch and JT were solid though sans that dumb little drop pass and the pp shenanigans
Nylander with an unbelievable pass and Matthew's scored...

Big contracts coming up with Marner and Tavares. Whose been more important to their line this season?

Recall that some posters in the preseason expressed concern with Marner’s "empty calorie points" or not being the "play driver" on goals. Additionally some expressed concern with Marners perimeter play and how it translates in the playoffs.

Two games:
- Four primary assists.
- Not once was Marner closer than 40 feet to the net.
- All plays came from near the boards (except the missed shot from within his own zone)
- only two passes were intentional passes
- One assist was a missed shot at an empty net from 95 feet away.

Id say its perimeter hockey and empty calorie. Recall he couldnt even generate a shot on goal, let alone a point 5v5 when he wasnt on Tavares line or Matthews line.

Here are images of Marner assists in the last 2 games, producing from the perimeter. How successful will this play be in the playoffs?

Really like the game, structured and very boring, which is what this team needs.

Can pick on moments here and there that can be better but overall, it is one of those games that good teams will fall for it coming home from a road trip playing against one of the worst teams in the league.

The goal was catching a mistake from the Hawks with great finishing.
Second goal was a lucky bounce but Holmberg was buzzing in front of the net and JT shot it instead of passing it back.
3rd goal was generated out of nothing, which is the type of goals that you see happens in the playoffs.
4th goal was just hustle by Knies for beating icing

Prime guys comment the games as they see it, I am glad I can enjoy hockey with audio and don’t have to put it on mute cause sn is afraid to praise the leafs during the home games. Cuthbert and his buddy would whine about possible Hawks comeback and foligno’s bald leadership for the whole period. Grebs is a keeper, plays with heart!
I have to admit, I didn’t like Craig Simpson for years but he’s been much more fair recently. For example, last game he wondered how there was no cross checking penalty against Cirelli. Said a lot more than that abysmal SN panel after the game.

Both lines were outplayed by Chicago.

Matthews is still getting back to game speed, he's nowhere near typical Matthews yet.
