Some sloppy play by TOR, but when your D is good/goalies are good you can still get wins.

Just sayin', I had this poster as a kid on my wall in the 70s. I didn't like the Pepsi stuff so I used scissors to cut all around him and put it back up.

Prety low event game that wasn't ever particularly in doubt. Liked it just fine.

The hockey Gods are really looking out for the Leafs right now.

• Need a 3C? Boom, Minten.
• Goaltending issues? Boom, Stolarz/Woll at a bargain.
• Need a coach? Boom, Berube lands in our lap at the perfect time.
• Top-pair RD? Boom, Tanev.
• Bargain #4 defenseman? Boom, OEL.

It’s like everything they needed just fell into place, and now... it's almost like the Leafs don't have any weaknesses at all. Feels too good to be true, but here we are.

That drop pass is why Marner and matthews should never be on the same line ever again.
I have been reasonably impressed with how Marner has stepped up while Matthews was gone and then he goes and does a stupid drop pass on a break away.

I am not as complimentary on Treliving and Berube.
OEL is fading fast. Terrible signing. Lily is playing great, Berube blew this one. I don't think Berube is a godsend. Goaltending and Tanev have helped GA.
The rest is a lot of luck and things panning out. Stolarz playing great, but Woll is healthy too for now. Minten a good draft pick by former staff.
Tanev turned out great, for now. In 5 years I guess he can be dealt with.
Don't worry, the knuckleheads in charge will send Minten and Greybenkin down and play scrubs like Kampf and Reeves.
Reeves doesn't belong in the nhl. Kampf contract sigend by Treliving is an absolute joke and an albatross that will take picks to get out of.

Leafs were the better team. Minten with a timely goal. Chicago had a lot of zone time but stolarz was excellent again. Chicago’s old guys were cycling a lot but I’m surprised Foligno finished the game without some kind of hip injury. Bedard seemed pretty ordinary.

Not bad when my only critique is Robertson dropping his stick…..again. Velcro that on there buddy.

(Can someone explain how the empty net goal was not an icing? Was that determined to be a pass? Not complaining just confused we get a call our way.)

He’s done alright, nobody is perfect. He will be judged on how he handles Marner and retool if there is another early playoff exit. The older D guys contracts might not age well, but he didn’t resign Brodie, Liljegren is young enough that In 3 years he could still be “the one that got away”. Timmins was slept on by a lot of people, how he handles his next contract will be important. in 3 years he might be our only puck moving d man as Rielly and OEL age.

Hopefully Minten stays. We need a smart player just like him on the third line, being able to jump up when needed.

Lily is not capable of playing winning hockey. He became addition by subtraction, like Sandin.
Hope you are wrong about Kampf and Reaves. Minten and Grey add something special.

Postgame Berube complained about digital lineup cards, seems there was a mistake and Auston said he heard his name so he went out for the draw to avoid the penalty Nashville got last week. It was supposed to be Minten.

For the record, I have long been a Timmins fan. Thought he needed development time lost to injuries but the upside was always huge ala Jake Gardiner
